Shit Show

Forums:

I mean I knew it was going to be bad when Musk took over Twitter but even I couldn't imagine this level of complete incompetence. Someone started a fake "verified" account today from Eli Lilly and posted that they were going to make free insulin which tanked their stock. Then HR sent an email to all the people laid off but forgot to bcc everyone starting a reply all shit storm. While this is going on they are telling the remaining employees that they won't go to jail for violating FCC rules. That was just today.

LOL. Musk is an ass and has now seriously damaged Tesla in lots of different ways as well. The remaining top-tier e-security executives have bolted from Twitter (alongside the mass exodus of ad dollars) and now he is saying bancruptcy is becoming a real possibility earlier than later next year. He and Kanye have become exemplary Harvard Business Cases of what NOT to do. I guess it's fairly easy to piss away billions in market capital equity that didn't really exist at all. Zuckerberg is close on their heals.

((((These poor billionaires))))

i cant for the life of me figure out why they didnt charge for the checkmark but still use it as a way to verify your identity. you pay the $8, they do whatever they did before to verify your identity, and as long as you pay the $8 per month, the checkmark continues to appear.

the idea of democratizing the blue check is a good one - although it was meant as a way to verify the identity of public figures, it obviously grew into something that twitter used to control public discourse and create an "in crowd" of public figures they approved of for whatever reason, while excluding people who would otherwise have enough fame to warrant a blue check. but why decouple it from verifying a persons identity? i dont get it. public figures could just have an account with no check mark if they dont want to pay, and anyone and everyone could have one if they paid and had their identity properly verified. they clearly had a system in place to do so.

^piss poor incompetent newcomer owner micro-management alongside mass defection of qualified e-security personnel and an intense need to stop-gap the sinking ad revenue.

I would say it is no more complicated than they thought they could make more money by just selling verification to anyone so that is the plan they went with, and everyone just nodded along, because if you disagree you are out.

wish elon would buy fox news next

They just told all the employees to go home and not come back until Monday. They are shutting off every ones badge access, and people inside are saying there is a mass employee exodus after the be hard core and work extra hours for no pay or leave email Elon sent out. If you have anything important saved there it might be time to go get it.

Making Trump social look like the new Facebook

Mike posting parody accounts.

I read this morning engineers and other workers are taking Musky up on his ultimatum.

By leaving.

Racket, maybe you didn't notice that this thread is full of parody account postings. Fake news can be weaponized by both sides, yo.

 How's your harvest?

Who, me? Or Bss?

I did okay this year after some problems with a new light I underestimated and a late second start. Filled some jars with fragrant, tasty buds that will hold me for the next year and then some.

Seemed like this was as good a place as any to post this:

Happy World Toilet Day

Appreciate the npr article, Dave.  A friend worked with biodegradable toilets in Haiti...very sad that the poor cannot afford clean living.

When Musk reinstated Trump after running a bogus poll he said vox populai, vox dei which means the voice of the people is the voice of god. He has apparently been saying it in every meeting at Twitter to the point where the employees that are left are making fun of him behind his back because this is the origin of that phrase:

I mean, for all of Musk’s silly pretentious “vox populai, vox dei” stuff, plenty of people have pointed out that the phrase originates from Alcuin of York in a letter to Charlemagne in 800, in which he warns that believing such a thing is dangerous:

“And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, since the riotousness of the crowd is always close to insanity.”

EM is hoping trumplethinskin posting again will save twitter. You should see him baiting, groveling and begging to get trump to post. Pathetic. I guess apartheid money won't buy you a spine.

Be kinda funny to have Cheetolini drive the last nail into Troth Sential's coffin.

And then blame Nunes.

A good explanation of Mastodon from EFF - Barlows organization. BTW Mastodon has gotten pretty good this week.

Thanks, El Nino. I was part way through the EEF article when I lost it.

Elon only bans black Nazis

Andrew Anglin has been reinstated to Twitter under Elon Musk’s new policies for the platform. The founder of the white supremacist website The Daily Stormer had been banned from Twitter since 2013."

At this point in time I have come to realize that the ultra wealthy benefit from the shit posting on social media.  The market reacts to a post and they invest low and sell high. Nothing new here. What is new is how the shit posts speed up the process of this wealth inequity mechanism.  They have no reason to ban "paid speech" any time soon. we can go back to calling it "free speech" once we are all given free communication devices with free internet coupled with free electricity, and free of advertisement of course.  Cracked screen replacement....?...That's still gonna cost ya....

I'm just hoping the space lasers zero in on some folks soon.  Set the controls for the heart of the sun!

Musk is doing his part to fight inflation, but sucks if you are trying to sell your used Muskmobile

Elon got booed off the stage last night when Chappelle brought him up to speak during his performance at Chase Center in SF. Now Elon (Mr. Free Speech) is deleting any accounts that post videos of it happening.

I'm not suggesting Musk should catch a bullet.

But it'd be great if he couldn't go anywhere without getting pied.

Like a clown should.

Dorsey buys Twitter back in April for $1.2M and a used Tesla (Elon pays for tow).
