Session Ales

Forums:

I'm trying to find a good tasting ale with low ABV so I can enjoy a cold one or three on my patio without getting snockered. So far I've tried two, and they both tasted pretty good but also gave me really bad stomach aches after just one, which is why I don't imbibe in Pilsner. The two I've tried and won't go back to are Drakes Kick Back and Stone Neverending Haze,

Any suggestions for beer/ales with ABV below 5.0% ?

I haven't tried either of those yet. I like Founder's All Day IPA and Golden Road Wolf Pup.

i don't care for "session ipa's" very much.

does it have to be craft?

otherwise the Model-O aka modelo is a fine choice.

anchor lager is decent.

Caldera out of Ashland makes a lager that you are looking for.   Its called the Lawnmower, presumably because you can drink it and not run over your foot when mowing the lawn:

I was just down in Baja for a couple weeks and drank a shit load of Tecate in lieu of water.   You can drink those things all day and barely catch a buzz.  Pretty inexpensive though.

I used to bring along a couple of twelve packs of Session Ales to music fests in addition to the good stuff.   They are on the inexpensive end, but still decent enough to hand out to people stopping by your camp without breaking the bank or blowing through your stash of the good stuff.

Here's a list of 134 pilsners put together by beer critic Jim Vorel.

Many of these have an ABV of 5.0 or less, including his #1 pick:

My go to after a hard day of work.

I've been enjoying the Daily Dose by Otter Creek, 5.5 ABV and they have a cool can;

That all used to be my thing but I kinda got trendy-d out. I like water nowadays, coffee for my morning session

I like the founders all day IPA

What's wrong with getting snockered?

https://russianriverbrewing.com/apical-dominance/

I just got a 12pack of these delivered as Russian River is delivering in CA for free these days.  fantastic hoppy ale which for me proved to be very drinkable.  its 6% tho which I dont think of as high gravity but I am a big dude who can drink a bunch

any Sessions Ale is better than Sessions/Ailes...

I drink 12th of Never.

Lawson's Super Session. Most full-bodied, flavorful, poundable Session IPA - Period!

Sorry, Dise, I missed your comment about pilsners.  Funny, I'm the other way these days.  Most IPA's are too highly hopped and give me a headache.  Pilsners are my preferred beer these days.

Just picked up some Mad River Brewing Steelhead Extra Pale Ale that comes in at 5.6%. Not very hoppy.

I also like Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale that comes in at 5.0% but not cheap.
