Jorma's playing at the Bluegrass Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky on April 12. Any other Zoners going to be there by chance?
And does anyone happen to know if Jorma is cool about signing stuff? It'll be a fairly small crowd at this show. Thought about taking an old Tuna vinyl with me.

Yes, he is cool with signing stuff. At least he was a couple of years ago when I saw him at the local JCC with John Hurlbut. Enjoy the show!

It was just him and his acoustic guitar when I first saw him at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco in 1980.
Enjoy the show!

My experience is he's pretty chill about signing stuff, although it seems he's a bit less accessible these days. Enjoy the show!

A few years ago, Jorma issued a statement saying that he didn't want people asking him to sign things right after his performances as he was getting older and all he wanted to do was take a leak, get something to drink, and relax.

Have a great show! Sounds like a wonderful place to hear him with John Hurlbut.
I wonder if you could send an email or something to his wife Vanessa to connect about getting something signed? It sounds like Bss is speaking from experience, I might follow his lead.

It's most convenient to stay
It's most convenient to stay at the Hampden Inn directly next door to the venue. Unless you like to wait for old guys to pee during intermission. You can just walk over to your room, instead. And you can groove out on the psychedelic bridge outside your hotel window. Didn't see one bedbug.
Plenty of restaurants withing walking distance, too.
Enjoy!

I live in Owensboro. Where you from Alan? If you're ever around again we'll have to get a mutton sandwich, Ale 8 and share a bowl my friend.

Got to meet Jorma today, shake his hand and thank him for the many years of great music. He signed my America's Choice LP and took a group selfie with me and a couple buddies before the show. Total gentleman.

I'm sorry I just saw this
I'm sorry I just saw this Philnweird, I was also at the show at the Blue Grass Music Hall of Fame, bummer it would have been great to meet you. It was a very sweet show. Jorma played about 10 songs solo and then John came out for another 8 or so tunes. Jorma's guitar playing is so beautiful and smooth once he starts playing with John and doesn't have the stress of singing. Of course the solo is very special as well.
I'm glad you got to meet Jorma he is very kind and generous with his time. Jorma is so thankful for the fans, this is his last tour but at 85 he's still playing really well.
My friend Louis plays in a band with John Hurlbut, and they sold out of their books, CDs and shirts at earlier shows so we brought them more. John came to our Airbnb after the show to relax a bit, they're all enjoying this last hurrah.

No, we sat on a bench near the back entrance close to his tour bus. He walked out not long after to sign our stuff, take a picture then go back in. I guess he saw us hanging out while he was inside. Pretty cool of him to do that.

Too bad we couldn't meet up! Really didn't expect any other Zoners to be at a Kentucky show. Jorma sounded fantastic. We had 2nd row seats right in the middle. I wish it would've drawn more of a crowd but I hope he felt the love and appreciation in the room. I was pretty unfamiliar with John Hurlbut to be honest but he did a great job. I can understand why Jorma doesn't want to sing nonstop for 90 minutes. He played some sweet lead while John took over vocals.

Philnweird - We made the trek
Philnweird - We made the trek from Baltimore to Owensboro to see the closing of the Jerry exhibit last month and were delighted with the venue and city, though we only explored around the Museum. Even managed to find some vegetarian and GF food there (unfortunately I missed the opportunity for the bbq mutton and too bad for me I don't drink bourbon any longer). We even witnessed an anti-war protest in the center of town, which vibed a bit more MidWestern than Southern. My only regret was driving past all those limestone quarries on the way home (it was Sunday and they were closed).

^Glad you had a good time! It's a nice little city. Not much of a live music scene but it's easy driving distance to a lot of big cities so it was convenient to catch the guys from the Dead over the years. I imagine my show-going days are dwindling rapidly with Phil and Bobby gone though.

I went to the Belly Up show. It was a blessing as I thought his birthday shows were it and it was over after the Colorado show. I was so happy when I stumbled on the Belly Up show in Feb. It was fantastic, loved their version of The Maker. Just a real treat.
