Seattle Zoners Step In Please...

I will be visiting Seattle from NJ this Thursday for about a week. I'll be hanging with my niece and her boyfriend, so I'm sure they will know the ropes. But I thought I'd ask here:

a) Do any Zoners wanna meet up ?

b) Got any suggestions for local music / Breweries / Parks or other cool stuff?

fyi, I haven't been in Seattle since The Dead in '93 and/or '94...

Go to the sculpture park.  It's a great place ot spend a nice afternoon.

I also went to Umi Sake and Japonessa for sushi.   Both a bit pricy but damn it was good.   I'd go back to either in a second.

If you like Architecture try the Public Library.

Also watch out for this guy:

800mg!   holy shit.

Take the Washington State Ferry over to Bainbridge Island for lunch and visit the Japanese Internment Memorial park.

Gasworks Park to watch the amphibious planes land and the crew team practice, and to check out the sundial on the hill.

Discovery Park for views of Puget Sound and the Olympics.

Kerry Park on Queen Anne for overlook of downtown and Rainier if clear.

The Frye Art Gallery is free and usually has something good showing.

The Museum Of Pop Culture (formerly the Experience Music Project)

Pike Place Market

The Mariners final home series with the Cleveland Indians this weekend.  Great views of the Sound and Olympics from the upper deck concourse.

Pick up a copy of The Stranger for music and art listings.

I've got a lot on my plate this week, but will be around my shop (Neptune Music Company).  If you're in the U-District, feel free to drop in.  If I've got a spare second, I'll buy you a beer at the Big Time.

Enjoy.

The Jimi Hendrix grave site in nearby Renton is pretty impressive.  You would need a car to get there and directions are readily available on line.

<<a) Do any Zoners wanna meet up ?

i'll need to vet you first.  do you have any references?

See who's playing at the Triple Door.

If you do make it to Bainbridge Island ( I lived there for several years), and want to take a nice walk, visit Bloedel Reserve http://bloedelreserve.org/

Can also recommend Restaurant Marche http://www.restaurantmarchebainbridge.com/  for a nice dinner or the Harbor House pub at the marina for lunch. http://www.harbourpub.com/

Everything except Bloedel is walking distance from the ferry, so no need to take a car. There's also a bus system and taxi on the island.

Happy travels!

Thanks, everybody! That should keep me busy!
