Not a bad line as it is but more is coming. Tickets on sale tomorrow and are reasonable for both 2-day GA and VIP. This is going to rock and the NJ shore in late Sept is as good as it gets.
I imagine that the web site is slow because of traffic since the lineup was just announced. I'm sure it will speed up as the day goes on.
I agree that Blondie will draw a number of people to this festival. Other performers that I am looking forward to seeing are Brandi Carlile, Social Distortion, Frank Turner, Jesse Malin, Nicole Atkins...
Let's just say there are a lot of good performers on that bill.
p.s. The Asbury Park Jam In The Sand lineup will be announced later this week.
Here's an interesting part of the above festival. The pro surfers involved will doing something called, "Expression Sessions" which will have the surfers performing on waves while live music is pumped at them. Each surfer will be attempting to sync their ride to what is going on musically at that moment. I guess it's a performance art piece.
This will be a good opportunity to bring the Dog to the coast. Tough to say from the map, but it appears that 10th Avenue Dog Beach will be outside the fence. He enjoys the beach, but doesn't like actually going in the Atlantic.
Looks like they'll have 3 stages set up. 2 on the sand north of Convention Hall and one on Sunset.
I suppose they'll have something going on indoors at the various venues as well, especially if they can sell a lot of advance tickets.
how’s the surf in new jersey? I imagine dodging debris adds to the difficulty?
The surf is good enough that there is a pro surfing stop about 3 miles south of Asbury Park in Belmar, NJ each year. Years ago when NYC was allowed to dump waste just off the NJ coast, the water was filled with all sorts of interesting items. That stopped at least 30 years ago and the surf is almost always clear of any debris. The only time that it isn't is right after a big hurricane/noreaster but that is true anywhere after a large storm.
Since New Jersey acquired the 2,694 acres (10.90 km2) estate of Henry Phipps, Jr. in 1953 for $2.75 million to form the park, the state has maintained a official vacation residence (39.8865°N 74.0819°W) exclusively for the New Jersey Governor (in addition to the governor's mansion at Drumthwacket, in Princeton near the state capital of Trenton).[4][5] The residence was built by Phipps in the 1920s.[6]
The house is in the Cape Cod style.[5] It is now accessible via a paved road. The home is about 200 feet (61 m) from the beach. It has five bedrooms and three bathrooms with a small room for the security detail. It is the only house close to the ocean. Two other houses in the park are on Barnegat Bay (one for the superintendent of the park and a governor's guest house

I like the entire concept of this Asbury Music Festival. Interesting lineup, no doubt it will attract customers.
Blondie might be the Big Draw.
However, the website is extremely slow to view compared to many others.
While I'm not on dial-up these days, it is a hassle over 3G / 4G connection.
Perhaps they don't want to sell tickets to poor people. But maybe suggest a "Low-Bandwidth" connection alternative.

Actually, No.
The Beach (Island Beach State Park) belongs to the Jerseyland taxpayers.
It's a "State Park" and not private land owned by whatever governor shmuck is in office these days.
