Wonder if the Gilligan's Island theme song is popular on these floating leper colonies?

Tough times for the tourism industry.

Cruises are weird, but my parents really like them and I have joined them for a few.   Good way to spend time with the folks and see some cool ports of call.

I am sure the cruise companies will get fat bailout checks, but wonder how much will trickle down to the mostly Southeast Asian workers?

I was on the Zaandam (the one floating around now looking for a port to take them in) last year on a cruise in South America with my folks and on "ask the captain night," my question was whether the ship and its crew were subject to EU labor and wage laws being that it was a Dutch ship.  There was an audible gasp from the audience and the captain gave a nervous, long winded answer about international treaties and regulations that generally dodged the question.

None of the big three cruise companies are US flagged. I think they are Liberia, The Caymans, and Panama. They do that so they don't have to pay taxes here. From my understanding, most of their employees are also not US citizens. We better not cut them fat bailout checks.

Yep.  If they were US flagged, then they would be subject to US labor laws.   Can't have that.
