A collection of high quality remastered prints from the dawn of film taken in Belle Époque-era Paris, France from 1896-1900. Slowed down footage to a natural rate, added in ambiance sound, and colorized. These films were taken by the Lumière company.

Interesting footage.  I noticed that all the women had feathered hats.   Ironically, the feathered hat craze of the turn of the century helped spark the modern conservation movement.   Birds were being subjected to such wholesale slaughter to fuel the fashion industry that many species were pushed to the brink of extinction.   The Audubon Society pushed back with a boycott of the feather industry and that eventually led to the first federal environmental law, the Lacey Act of 1900, which made it illegal to poach wild birds in one state and sell the parts in another.
