Sandy -- The Asbury Park Fireworks

Forums:

Now the greasers they tramp the streets or get busted for
trying to sleep on the beach all night
Them boys in their spiked high heels ah Sandy their skins are so white

And you know that tilt-a-whirl down on the south beach drag
I got on it last night and my shirt got caught
A

And me I just got tired of hangin' in them dusty arcades
bangin' them pleasure machines
Chasin' the factory girls underneath the boardwalk where
they promise to unsnap their jeans

Sandy the fireworks are hailin' over Little Eden tonight
Forcin' a light into all those stoned-out faces left
stranded on this forth of July
Down in town the circuit's full with switchblade lovers
so fast so shiny so sharp
As the wizards play down on Pinball Way on the boardwalk way past dark
And the boys from the casino dance with their shirts open
like Latin lovers along the shoreChasin' all them silly girls

Sandy the aurora is risin' behind us
The pier lights our carnival life forever
Love me tonight for I may never see you again

Hey Sandy girl

And that Joey kept me spinnin'
I didn't think I'd ever get off

Oh Sandy the aurora is risin' behind us
The pier lights our carnival life on the water
Runnin' down the beach at night with my boss's daughter
Well he ain't my boss no more Sandy

Sandy the angels have lost their desire for us
I spoke to 'em just last night and they said they won't
set themselves on fire for us anymore

Every summer when the weather gets hot they ride that road
down from heaven on their Harleys they come and they go
And you can see 'em dressed like stars in all the cheap
little seashore bars parked making love with their
babies out on the Kokomo

Well the cops finally busted Madame Marie for tellin'
fortunes better than they do

This boardwalk life for me is through
You know you ought to quit this scene too

Sandy the aurora's rising behind us
The pier lights out carnival life forever
Oh love me tonight and I promise I'll love you forever

Well damn my editing skills.

But that's a reconstructed "Sandy" lyric set from Bruuuuce.

They named that Hurricane after that tune.

So I went over to AP this evening, wanting to take Hüsky for  a nice cool Ocean swim.

I get there an there's Crazy Traffic !! No way I could get to the Eighth Avenue dog-friendly beach and park,  so I turned around and parked up near Bond Street and Lake Avenue.

Of course, turns out they still do the crazy Fireworks Show over the Ocean.  I had no idea blush

Anyway,  the entire Asbury Park beachfront area and surrounding streets are just packed with People,  they double-park all over that Ocean Avenue near the Empress Hotel all the way past Convention Center.

Never made it to Eighth Avenue,  too many people in the way.  Went in the water at Sunset Avenue Beach and Hüsky got wet, but was a bit freaked out by the Waves in the Dark.

Have to take H.I.M. there when there's more Daylight.  The Fireworks did not phase H.I.M. one bit,  but the Oceanic experience was somewhat intimidating.

He really liked strolling the Boardwalk and meeting all sorts of new People.

So technically Dawgs are not allowed on the Boardwalk,  and technically I was not allowed to park the car where I parked.  However,  it's a Holoday and we just did Fine.  My flip-flop disintegrated due to the toxic Atlantic water,  and I asked a couple cops if they had any spare Zip-ties like they use to handcuff tourists.

They unfortunately did not, but none of the cops said anything about the Dawg.  He maintained his Kool throughout the hordes of Tourists.  Of course he has his license and other certificates.  He can weld underwater and fly small helicopters.

Anyway,  we strolled the Boardwalk,  and went through the indoor portion of the Convention Center,  and the Dawg had a fun time. All sorts of Kids of all ages stopped to pet His fuzzy self.  Some nice Granny Lady told me tales of her former Hüsky and it just brought tears to my eyes.  That one lived Fourteen years.

One of my favorite songs

Long live the Boss

I still remember as a kid how crowded AP got on the 4th of July, some things never change.
