Earlier this month, I visited S.F. for the first time in a little while, and was surprised to see this new skyscraper towering over the city. It looks out of place to my eyes. What are the locals thoughts on the Salesforce Tower?
I like the design on the Transamerica Tower more. The Salesforce Tower looks like a blunt monstrosity. Sooner or later, there will be another great earthquake there. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that thing.
I like the tower. Having been to many cities over the globe, it is not as ugly as most. It is not as ugly as the facebook tower close to it.
Oh good god. "Oaktown" is just as gentrified as SF is these days. And yet it's still an insecure 2nd rate city that black people are getting booted from. THATS WHERE ITS AT BRO
Panama City had probably the most impressive skyline in all of Latin America. Had no idea who was building and buying all the high rises or why. Then the Panama Papers came out.
Not a San Fran native or resident but I have spent a bunch of time there, most recently last July, and I kinda like the skyline effect from the bay with the three towers (TA, Salesforce and the one in North Beach). It's an example of new school architecture, which you may like or not, but is definitely predominant around the world right now. But the effect of the three towers together has, IMO, a really cool juxtaposition between several architectural styles.

OK, that's taste. The TA tower is "iconic" but really is contrary to the style of the city overall.

It's just like every other glass tower they are throwing up (literally and figuratively) in big cities around the globe.
SF sucks more and more each passing year. Redeeming qualities are becoming minimal.
Oaktown is where it's at.

I was going to say that it looks like a slightly less phallic looking version of the "Gherkin" tower erected in London.
