Samba in the rain

Forums:

What the fuck were they thinking.

The best it could be is a cheesy lounge song by Tony Clifton.

My vote for the worst GD song. Ruined the 1994 tour.

I've never heard the song

Ombrophobia is the fear of Samba in the Rain.

Brian d plays the song on his favorite keyboard.

After returning fro DC this weekend I was revisiting all the Washington shows I went to. I remember tuning to a friend of mine and mentioning how much this song sucked. I think it was the first time I heard it live.

This was not too bad of a show for 94 at least. I was with a bunch of old friends and we were high that night .........

lol 4 winds

It rained real bad at this Giants Std. 1994 "rain" show.

Great hang with some old friends brought me back there the next year for my final GD show

At one of the Nassau shows, maybe Spring 1993, The Samba was the musical highlight of the set.

It made me really depressed!

I never saw Jerry.

Doesn't matter, Slack. As long as you've seen that Mr. E video you're all set.

Wave to the Wind is just as bad.

Shoe Fits is way worse then Samba!

Please...... Team Suck !no

Ruined the 1994 tour. <<<<

ha ha it Stopped for Me My last GD show 12.17.92 thats all folks...............

Hey Sarah. Eat sh*t.

It would have sounded better if Jerry could remember it.  Seems like it's debut was the one time he had a handle on it.  YMMV.

If you expecting something more when they played Samba, maybe you were the fool?

Wouldnt that ^ be zeppelin, then?

>>>Wave to the Wind is just as bad.

Possibly even worse lol

The story is out there, something along these lines, Eugene I think.

"The DeadHead broke down in tears as they heard the band tuning up for Samba in the Rain for the third time in a week."

Wicked Samba In The Rain.

Words never uttered by no one.

Highlighted Vinnie's vocal prowess. During the dark times of '94 and '95, it was a song where Garcia, similar to Long Way, would pop out of his hazy worm hole and pay attention for a tiny bit.

The Eugene '94 Samba during the downpour wasn't 1/2 bad.

But basically I like to defend the indefensible. So there.

I feel bad about how it ended for Vince but I'm glad I jumped off just around the time that these songs were becoming permanent parts of the set list.

Is it a worse song then Long Way To Go Home?

In the minority here, but I liked this song. (ducking 4 cover) smiley

Note the entheusiastic singing of Jerry, Bob & Phil on this.

Let's get down and dirty
Don't bother to explain
Don't care if they call a cop
and say we are insane
we'll keep goin' til we drop
Samba in the rain

Long Way To Go Home was awesome because that was basically Hunter jabbing at deadheads through Vince.

Way To Go Home was the best GD song of the 90s.

Yeah.  I said thatsmiley

I miss Corinnaaaa

Both Samba and Long Way to Go Home are decent enough songs (especially in light of the other 90s GD originals), but my gripe was that they were Vince's only songs (aside from the cover of Baba O'Riley) and both were way overplayed.

Samba's lyrics are also kind of dirty.  Hunter allowing Vince to tap into some his Tubes freak show roots.
