If a federal official commits a crime or otherwise acts improperly, the House of Representatives may impeach—formally charge—that official. If the official subsequently is convicted in a Senate impeachment trial, he is removed from office.
D. Michael Stewart, Brigham Young University, Department of History
The documents show that Joseph Smith did prophesy a number of times that the United States and the Constitution would be imperiled and that the elders would have a hand in saving them. The first known record of the prophecy dates to July 19, 1840, in Nauvoo, when the prophet spoke about the redemption of Zion. Using Doctrine & Covenants 101 as a text, he said, “Even this nation will be on the verge of crumbling to pieces and tumbling to the ground and when the Constitution is on the brink of ruin this people will be the staff upon which the nation shall lean and they shall bear the Constitution away from the very verge of destruction.” (Joseph Smith Papers, LDS Church Historical Archives, Box 1, March 10, 1844.)
There are also other documents in Church History files that show that five different early Saints recorded some remarks by the Prophet Joseph Smith on this same prophecy, perhaps voiced by the Prophet a number of times in a number of ways after 1840.
In a Pioneer Day celebration in Ogden in 1871, Eliza R. Snow said, “I heard the prophet say, ‘The time will come when the government of these United States will be so nearly overthrown through its corruption, that the Constitution will hang as it were by a single hair, and the Latter-day Saints—the Elders of Israel—will step forward to its rescue and save it.” (Journal History, MSF 143 #28, July 24, 1871.)
Now the constitution may not be "hanging by a thread", but many folks interpret things in various ways to justify their actions. Mitt may decide he needs to go "on a mission".
SALT LAKE CITY — Reports emerged last week that some Republican donors are encouraging Utah Sen. Mitt Romney to run against President Donald Trump in 2020, and Romney addressed those rumors Thursday by saying there is "no circumstance I can conceive of that would have me running for national office again.”
But that isn't stopping some Republicans from trying to change his mind.
Anthony Scaramucci, Trump's short-lived former communications director turned prominent critic, tweeted a link Friday to a website selling Romney 2020 T-shirts and attempting to "nudge" the senator into a run.
Featuring slogans like "commit to Mitt" and "enough is enough," the site says it is "paid for by friends of Mitt Romney." It includes an "issues" page that features positions lifted directly from Romney's senate campaign website.
It also features an email newsletter sign-up to follow the "crusade."
Though a vocal contingent of so-called Never Trump Republicans are seeking an alternative candidate to throw their weight behind, the president retains widespread popularity within his own party. A Friday Hill-HarrisX poll shows Trump with an 83% approval rating among Republicans.
Romney said Thursday he expects the president to be reelected.
Here's the Mooch's twitter site that's getting a LOT of ridicule.

Trump has had approximately 150 federal court judges confirmed thus far, including 2 Supreme court justices.
A second term will further solidify a conservative judicial roadblock for many progressive policies.
