Not a big fan of the Cure or LL Cool J, but they are up there in importance.
Just saw Prine for the first time a few weeks ago and will be seeing the MC5 (MC50) for the first time next Monday and Stevie Nicks for the first time in November.
Making it a point to see all these old folks while they are still around.
By letting 'the public' vote, it turns it into a popularity contest, based on album sales, and not contributions to music. Last year Bon Jovi got the most votes, and it was no surprise, due to their chart hits, yet Radiohead was left in the dust, even though 'Ok Computer' is widely regarded as a milestone and turning point in rock, akin to 'Sgt Peppers' or 'Never Mind the Bullocks'.
>If this was the football hall of fame, we would be inducting Chad Pennington this year
I won a signed game shirt a bunch of years ago at a stag and that fucker falls out of my closet at least once a month. I swear that I bury it under a stack of old sweaters but somehow it surfaces. Anyone want to buy it...???..I'll pay shipping???
As if the Jets aren't bad enough Chad 'Ty' Pennington is the complete worst... To think that I've been a fan for 40 years is a disgrace...
Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first commerical recording. "Newer" bands aren't really new.
