Fela Kuti's longtime collaborator, the magnificent Tony Allen succumbed to a heart attack today in Paris.  He played on some of the grooviest and most cosmic records ever made.  Respect to one of the greatest, now gone to play with the immortals.

Tony was also a collaborator with Blur's Damon Albarn in the supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen along with The Clash's Paul Simonon and the Verve's Simon Tong.

Albarn is the main musical mind behind The Gorillaz as well, and has just released a new Gorillaz song, "How Far" recorded just before the lockdown featuring Tony Allen on drums:
