June Foray, a voice actress best known for playing Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Natasha Fatale on “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show,” has died. She was 99.
There was a time in my 20's when I thought of changing my name to Rocket J. Squirrel; I gave it up since the hassle was bigger than my commitment to the name.
Used to faithfully watch as many episodes as possible when I was 3-8 years old. There were always 'cliffhangers' but the TV station did not always play the episodes in sequence. Fortunately I acquired a batch of VHS episodes just a few years back.
Amazing the amount of wry humour that went over my head as a kid. Sherms & the Professor are great also.
"We started out something like this. Then we went on to become the Rocky and Bullwinkle of Rock and Roll." -- Bob Weir
[April 25, 1981 Berkeley Community Theater, Berkeley, CA: Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir/Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann/Odetta/Country Joe McDonald/Rosalie Sorrells/Kate Wolf SEVA Sing Out For Sight Benefit]
Some of the R&B plots are quite elaborate and intricate, although absurd. I think that the main scriptwriter must have been from Jerseyland. There's always references to obscure Jerseyland towns in there.
