Art Blakey and Ralph Peterson

Sad to hear of the passing of the supremely talented Ralph Peterson, the heir apparent to Art Blakey, and the greatest Hard Bop Jazz drummer of his generation, who succumbed to cancer yesterday at age 58.  His was a at times ferocious and at others, tender presence.  He will be greatly missed:

RIP. Kind of reminds me of Wallace Roney; they were both "heirs apparent" who lived much shorter lives than the harder-living progenitors they followed.
