RIP Portland Mayor Bud Clark

Politicians come and go, but there will never be anyone comparable to the legendary Bud Clark!!!

Many know him from the hilarious "Expose Yourself To Art" poster that was all the rage at the time (and long after).

As a mayor, his 12 point homeless plan got national recognition, public transportation, green trust, many other cool things he did, but nothing as much fun as the Mayors Ball!!!

He spent his post government work as a beloved tavern owner!

Thanks soooo much for posting this, Noodler.  Love the images.

I happened to have spent Saturday eve at his Goose Hollow Inn, my favorite place for a pint in Portland..., last I saw him there was at their 50th anniversary a few years ago.

To those who are wondering -- that big sculpture in back of the yellow canoe is the huge bronze Portlandia statue, which had to be barged to downtown on the Willamette River for installation on the Portland building (city government building).

The image at top was shot behind the Goose on the steps of the coffee shop his family owned in the old house in back of the pub.

RIP Bud, you originated "Portlandia."

He lived a charismatic life and made Portland more Portland. He cared about people.

How much better everywhere would be if mayors were like Bud. How cool.

I was hoping to find his appearance on the Johnny Carson show, but no luck...   such a character!
