RIP Mr. Ottens.

I had always thought that Brabant was a region of Belgium known for the Lambic style of Beer.

Stories I've read in the past credited some Sony engineer with CD invention. Quite educational to learn more details.

I will honor him with a spin of a UDXL II

I think most folks here would want to raise a toast to this man. How many tapes did we all buy/trade?

How many millions did they sell?

Amazing. I still have some that sound better now 35 years later than some CD's and downloads, etc...

The CD player in my 2001 Subaru went out a few years ago and I've been listening to cassettes.

Kinda fun listening to the old radio shows I did. Lots of 45 minute sets with little to no interruption. Sure makes my 3 1/2 hour drives to southern Utah more fun. Someday, maybe after I retire, I'll transfer to Audacity and digitize them.

So thanks to Mr. Ottens and RIP.

It fits all my tapes...

While driving cross country, tapes were sure easier to play than vinyl!

In high school in the car when the tape stretched or broke, the passenger was responsible for unfurling every inch of the damn thing out the car window and down the street while the other would keep driving.

god damn that was dumb

making Jerry portraits would've been a much better call

Man our community owes him (and paid him) a lot!

I ticked in at around 3,800 tapes before CD’s came along.

Thank you Lou Ottens for a real good time!

RIP
