Rick Steeves interview on Leafly, an encouraging good read

Forums:

Rick Steeves is known as a travel person, but he's much more and he's a smart man. One of the things he's been doing for awhile is advocating for marijuana legalization. He says, "Prohibition is racist, smoking marijuana is a civil liberty." As I said, he's a smart man.

The link is to an interview that appeared on Leafly and this is a very short excerpt:

Leafly: There’s this thread of good citizenship in all your work as a traveler, writer, business owner, and community member. How can canna-business people be good citizens?

Steves: There’s plenty of room to be a community leader and also a canna-business person.

I like that idea, because this is what I did at the very beginning of my advocacy: just confuse people with what they expect they’re going to be dealing with, and who this human being really is.

Here’s a guy they like, and they never thought they could like a guy who smokes marijuana. And I prove them wrong—Ha! For me, that’s a beautiful challenge.

Rick Steves always appears to be the calmest, most mellow person on TV. Now it all makes sense.

If you don't thoroughly enjoy every show Steves has ever done on PBS - then WTF is wrong with you?

On PBS - after Bob Ross - JP is right above - Rick Steves is just about the calmest cat on TV.

He gave over $300,000 of his own money to help legalize it in Washington State.

It's easy to love this guy, keeping in mind that he's human... he's not just about marijuana as a way to fight racism, he's about travel as political education and action, and so many other things. Philanthropy - he's helping people in many ways.

He donated what became a $4,000,000 property with apartments to the YMCA for transitional housing for women and families.
