What You Going to do About Me?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1utb4rvuk6U

one of the heaviest performers i have ever seen.

his shit's gnarly, ain't it buddy?

What was the name of his lead guitarist?  Loved that guy.

Saw him do a set at the Philly Folk Fest back in '92 that was out of this world.

On the Turning Away - yes, the PF song.

One of the most powerful performers I have ever seen. Saw him in a little place in Philly called The Tin Angel which holds about 120 people, and just him being in the room gave me goose bumps. When he started playing and singing I just about lost my shit. Never before or since have I been so moved and affected by a performance, actually getting kinda moved just thinking about it.

I met an artist that was employed by Richie at the Grateful Dead show 9/14/82 in Virginia. I was then invited to couple of parties that Richie was hosting by his company Stormy Forest Productions. One was the night of the JGB show at the Felt Forum and County Joe Mc Donald was there (he was playing at the Bottom Line that night)

I also went to a great Richie Havens show at My Father's Place in Roslyn that year in front of 50 people

I think Richie was one of the best guitar players to ever grace the instrument,

was at my first show at the Spectrum............lighthouse, richie havens and the jefferson airplane................what a night!!!

Richie came to Garberville and played at our little movie theater .He smoked with us before the show and later one of my friends told me he gave him a sack of my weed . I think back in 92 or 93 ?

Met RH after his show outdoors in Albany, OR late 90's ??

He was chatting with fans and enthusiastic about the Beautiful OR summer weather.

I gave him a Basil plant (from earlier Farmers Market) and he said " I gotta figure out how to get this on the plane back to New York! "

Great performance that afternoon.

The one time I saw him it brilliant performance, when he was actually performing, but he spent WAY too much time talking about how much "his generation" changed the world, which would have been tired enough except it was a show in Santa Cruz filled with the serious elder granola and Birkenstock crowd, and they ate it up like candy to a baby, which only egged him on.

Yawn.

"Brilliant, but shut up and play your guitar" is how my personal review of that show starts.

I was at the Albany show you speak of, Stu.. No idea of the date, but I do remember that it was a great show.

I also remember being harassed by the APD for smokiin' Mother Nature down by the riverside. Luckily we was jus' sittin' by the time they showed up. I think some of our concert neighbors dropped a dime on us.

Pretty straight crowd in Albany OR.

That On the Turning Away is pretty powerful and very relevent in these modern times

YouTube Prince Motherless Child

Late Saturday night, I edited 200 seconds of silent color news film clips back together;

none of which being longer than 22 seconds, seamlessly back together of the crowd from the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in Bethel NY in August of 1969, in a cohesive manner.

I entitled this silent video - Yasgurs Farm Crowd 1969 a Mini Movie

This was compelling upon playback. Even with warts and all.

I created a soundtrack to overdub onto this video, with audio that I carefully selected and then remastered.

Fought all night long the various digital copyright folks for each of the artist that I selected for this soundtrack.

I made it modular like & had a several back up soundtrack plans for each legal scenario I would face.

The Jimi Hendrix estate wanted out ASAP & blocked the video worldwide & I pulled it down.

I got a message from the folks representing Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young were very stoked and blessed it. This is what these guys are all about.  I went from using 1 song of CSNY to 3.

I remastered 3 songs from The Band's set at Woodtsock. The reps let it fly. It rocks! This from the actual concert & The Band are show cased.

Sony Columbia on behalf of Santana let this fly as well and seem to be happy to be part of the party. We are big Santana fans here in this house & needed to do this right

The silent movie starts off with a small amount of footage of Richie Havens, at first I could not find audio to capture Richie & that broke my heart, being how we feel about him.

I put a little more elbow work and nailed it -

Good stuff there, Schwa.

It sure is.

>>What was the name of his lead guitarist?  Loved that guy.

He had several.  The one with him mostly though his career was Paul "Dino" Williams.

Richie was a dear friend of mine.

Friends are tough to loose. My condolences Richie.

It wasn't too long ago still.

Richie was the third friend to die that weekend.   First Boogie Mosson died, then my friend Dave Harris and then Richie

Saw Richie a bunch of times. Jackohearts, Richie's a capella version of PF's "On The Turning Away' always gave me chills! He played a small restaurant/music venue called Crossroads, in Garwood, NJ, right down the street from where I live, on 6 separate occasions. I made it to 5 of them. Richie was always transcendent, whether covering others' music, or doing his originals.

And what a gracious soul he was! Gentle and patiently talking to all his fans after his shows for as long as they wanted to speak. With all my visits to XRoads Bar to see him, I felt that I came way with a solid friendship with him. That's how he signed my poster, ,"To a friend..."

Richie's stage banter was indeed wordy, but if you LISTENED to what he was saying, there was a lot of wit and wisdom there...

Here is one of my favorite of his latter years' cover tunes:

"Won't Get Fooled Again":

Rest In Peace, Richie  heart

I bought this album for it's cover and played it quite a bit

I got that one too at my church thrift shop when I was a kid. It looked just like that^

Thanks for the link. I was never able to play it past track 2 because of scratches.
