Replacing Sessions with Whitaker is Illegal & Unconsitutional?

There are only 2 Parties...

Democrats and Republicans

Put the Democrats in and hold them accountable.

The  Times fretting over "the centralization of government power".

Too rich for words.

So according to this Constitutional genius, Trump can't exercise his power to dismiss a member of his cabinet (who serves at the pleasure of the President) because he isn't allowed to appoint a temporary replacement?

"republicans do not care about the rule of law or the constitution. "

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

Freud got a lot wrong, but it's amazing just how prescient he was in many things.  His theory of projection coming to mind at the moment.

Trump can surely fire sessions,  but his replacement must be Senate confirmed, even an interim replacement.

Whitaker has not been confirmed by the Senate.

"The  Times fretting over "the centralization of government power".

Thom, could you please clarify this statement for me? I'm curious why the idea of The Times fretting over this seems odd or off to you. Could you please explain yourself so I can understand better?

Tom you got the first part right, re: the President's ability to exercise his power to dismiss. But alas, the second part regarding replacement, you curiously omitted.

Right out of the Fox playbook, well done!

lol, Thom has an Oedipus complex.

Republican President George Bush's White House Counsel:

"The Constitution says that principal officers must go through appointment with the advice and consent of the Senate. In Morrison v. Olson, the Supreme Court made clear that the Attorney General is a principal officer. Therefore, Whittaker cannot serve as acting Attorney General despite the Vacancies Act (which does provide for him to be acting AG) — the statute is unconstitutional when applied in this way."

Thom, would you ever look at an issue openly, and not with your privileged, 1%, silver spoon, partisan mindset?

Think for others as well as yourself. You live in an uninformed bubble.

And if you cling to "fiscal responsibility" as the defining value of Republicans, you have not been paying attention for a loooooong time.

Back to OP- the issue is quite clear, The acting AG needs to be approved by the Senate.

>Back to OP- the issue is quite clear, The acting AG needs to be approved by the Senate.<

Shouldn’t be difficult with the republican controlled senate.

thom, the normal process is to appoint the current deputy AG, who is rosenstien. he has gone through the senate confirmation process already. who is this guy, what are is qualifications? he is the chief law enforcement official of the country.

said individual has been on numerous tv appearances stating that the meuller probe is blah blah blah. this, sir, is a conflict of interest. he has recommended shutting it down or de-funding/limiting the scope. have you heard of watergate?

i could sit here an enumerate other examples of republicans ignoring and/or completely circumventing the constitution, in fact conservative zoners here say its irrelevant....blocking obamma's supreme court pick, you get the drift...

we are in a constitutional crisis. will the real conservatives please stand up??

or will you all continue to kowtow to a tin-pot schiester?

it's disgusting and fucking pathetic.

Thats what I was thinking Flo- so why the haste? The day after midterms?  Is he scared? Is he sending a big bully message?  the conspiracy nut in me thinks Trump knows what he is doing, that is, simply delaying the process.  Its his MO. The Mueller report might not have teeth but maybe, just maybe we will be surprised.

of course he does not want to have a rational dialogue about this.

just rather laugh and point.

just what this country needs...
