That's like saying the Owensville Baptist Church represents all of Christanity, the JDL represents all of Judaism or Warren Jeffs and his Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints represents all of Mormonism.  Each of these religions may be a little quirky, but broadly painting them as inherently evil is neither tolerant nor correct.

The OP tells a sad story about the denial of basic human rights by religious extremists, but then goes on to use that story to make overt swipes at an entire religion.  

That being said, there does seem to be a trend whereby some people are almost muted by fear of being labeled an Islamophobe from calling out the really horrible human rights abuses committed by some Islamic sects in the name of religion.  This extends to foreign policy, where the US turns a blind eye to the treatment of women and foreign workers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arab States, yet won't hesitate to impose embargos, travel bans, and sanctions on other countries like Cuba which, while not perfect, don't engage in the type of wholesale gender apartheid and modern day slavery being perpetrated by some Arab state allies.  

And certainly, traditional taboos about marrying outside one's community and treating women as second class citizens isn't limited to Arab or Muslim countries.  You can find similar practices in Hindu, Christian, and Orthodox Jewish households.  How long ago did women get the right to vote in this country?   But Muslims shouldn't get a pass to treat women and girls as property just because of all the other, unwarranted hostility shown against them by some in the West.

Muslims / Moslems that move from their countries of origin to other nations are not about adapting to cultural norms in the new host country.

They are more interested in retaining their previous cultural and religious values,  yet adapting to the newly-obtainable Wealth-Streams.

Once established,  their goal is to assimilate the Host nation toward their belief system.  It's not just my opinion, but a realistic explanation of Facts.

Mr.  Skevap's  explanation of  his Real Story should be looked upon as a Genuine Illustration of Truth. 

While I am sad that a fine Teenage Romance got torn apart over racist and religious dogma,  there is a lot to learn in this story, and I am glad that it was shared.

Posting anything personally identifying (pic, name, etc.) could be dangerous.

Talking shit about her family and religion ... isn't what I would do, but it's illuminating about Rick's perceptions.

So from what I read,  the parents removed their Girl from USA and forcibly deported her back to India or Pakistan,  and said "No University Education for you".

All with threat of dis-inheritance or family cutoff.

While I support their belief - structure of strict Islamic values and orthodoxy within their cultural paradigm,  the whole scenario does not lead me to believe that they are looking toward blending in with the progressive and pro-Female values of their host Nation.  That would be here, the United States.

The story illustrates that they treat their Daughter as a piece of Livestock :  a Cow, or Sheep, or Chicken.

So,  I am somewhat unsettled that anyone would promote that sort of behavior in our modern Society,  which allows Women to think for themselves and choose their own Destiny.  It was way back when that USA Women were allowed to Vote,  Drive,  and even be Politicians.  We've come a long way.

I am grateful to live in Modern Society where Females are just plain old Regular Citizens,  not Cattle.  Sorry if I Imply that Orthodox Moslem culture is repressive and backwards in their slave-policy,  but that is actually the Truth.

i think 30 of the near 60 nations in the OIC are almost 99% Muslim, so imagine migrating to the west from one of those countries where now you are a religious minority amongst millions of people who were dhimmi back home, where religion was the law(you don't have to add law to sharia, it's just sharia), where you quite possibly never interacted with someone who was a dhimmi. all so incredibly interesting to me.
