this is a MUCH-NEEDED rain in NorCal, after near-record low precipitation here throughout December... just in time for the steelhead runs... hope it doesn't result in damaging flooding, which could scour many spawning areas heavily used by Chinook salmon here in the Mattole River
this is a widespread storm system extending into SoCal... apparently, heavy rains there carry the threat of catastrophic mudslides over the burned & denuded landscape
