A question for Bay Area / Berkeley CA music Folks...

Forums:

So back at the turn of the Century,  I attended the Q shows and stayed at the Durant Hotel near campus.  During the mornings prior to our Food and show plans,  I would stroll the neighborhood and check out the local Shoppes and such.

One day or (maybe a couple) there was a Guitar shoppe within a half - mile or so of Campus area.  They had some neat olde stuff,  rather than a modern Guitar Center or like that.  My recollection is that the entrance door was somewhat 'below-grade'  meaning you would walk down a small batch of steps from Sidewalk level.

So it was a bit further compared to Top Dog,  or Fat Slice,  but not terribly far.

Does anyone know the place I'm talking about ??

I think you're referencing the guitar shop on Telegraph Avenue...it was/is[?] in a kind of collective of shops where you'd walk into a garden area with a variety of different storefronts, they had these amazing dreadnought guitars from Canada...if you were walking from campus towards Ashby it was about halfway on the right.
