Hello y'all this is is Mrs. Hooper! I am just writing to inquire if anyone knows a quality cbd oil distributor online? I have a friend who suffers terribly from chronic migraines and fibromyalgia, she takes a handful of prescription medication that exacerbates the symptoms of one condition or another and is consistently changing medications. She would like to explore more natural options and I would like to give her guidance and potential options to explore. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Peace!

Buying CBD can be a difficult
Buying CBD can be a difficult thing to navigate. Much of what is sold as "CBD Oil" is just a very simple extract of hemp, which may not contain much CBD at all(even if it claims to!), and oftentimes comes from industrial hemp, which is grown all over the world for industrial use, using all kinds of chemicals not approved for use on food or other consumables. Some companies will write their labels in a misleading way, where they state xyz grams of "CBD Oil" is in some sort of carrier oil, and make it seem like there are xyz grams of pure CBD in the bottle, when in reality xyz grams only refers to the weight of raw extract in the bottle, and there may not be a usable amount of CBD in it at all. NEVER, NEVER, buy any kind of CBD products from health food stores, food co-ops/grocery stores, smoke shops, gas stations, or pretty much any brick and mortar store. Some companies, which at the moment mostly operate out of Colorado and sell online, are using CO grown hemp intended for extraction, processing it in CO, and offering it for sale online. This is what to look for when buying CBD; Colorado grown and processed.
There are some people who differentiate between "hemp type" CBD and "drug-type" CBD...meaning CBD that comes from non-psychoactive hemp with virtually no THC, vs. CBD that comes from CBD-rich marijuana cultivars like AC/DC. AC/DC generally has a 20:1 CBD:THC ratio, and even though it has a very low THC content, extracts of it generally still have to much THC to legally qualify as hemp, and thus they are only sold in states with medical or recreational laws. If your friend does not live somewhere like this, and hemp CBD does not work for them but they would like to try "drug type" CBD drop me a line. I can be found on the philzone reddit, www.reddit.com/r/philzone and you can PM me. But keep in mind there is really no evidence that there is any actual difference between CBD from different sources...however there is not much scientific evidence for anything regarding cannabis due to it's Schedule 1 status, so we do what we can and make do with anecdotal evidence that we might not put up with in other areas.
Pure crystal CBD is usually the cheapest option, and many sites that sell the crystalline form also sell it dissolved into a carrier liquid as a tincture and capsules for easy dosing. I'd reccomend trying oral or sublingual tincture first, and if that does not work, try smoking the pure crystal in a dab rig or on top of some herb in a pipe. CBD is still not well understood, but it seems like some people and/or some conditions require really large doses that would be expensive any other way. In addition to the crystal being the cheapest option per gram, when you smoke it, it gets into your bloodstream alot faster, so a lower dose is needed for the same effect when compared to oral use. The best way to smoke it, by far, is in a dab rig with a medium/low temp nail and a carb cap.
Price can vary wildly. I have seen grams of 99% CBD going for anywhere from $25/1g to $100/1g. Never pay more than $40/g, unless it comes with added terpenes or something like that. $30 is generally easy to find and the price that I like to pay. The added terpene thing is for smoking/dabbing it and will have no effect on oral use. Terpenes are aromatic compounds that give cannabis its huge variety of strong scents and effects. The terpenes, at the moment are believed to modulate the effect of THC to produce the different effects we feel strain to strain. Many companies use "food grade" terpenes, meaning purified individual terpenes blended in ratios similar to those found in popular cannabis strains. However some companies do use "cannabis derived" terpenes that they get by steam distilling or vacuum degassing of actual cannabis flower. Most terpenes from either source do not taste like real cannabis, but none the less can be pleasant and may provide additional medicinal effects. Also, CBD tends to have an odd cherry like flavor when smoked and sometimes the terps can help wit that, but then other times the cherry flavor totally overpowers them.
The two sites I would recommend at the moment are https://www.thecbdistillery.com/ and https://infinitecbd.com/
And it can be hard to use for someone who isnt already into social media, but instagram is the preferred platform for cannabis users and companies and there is alot of great info on CBD there.

fuck guild thca crystalline,
fuuuuuck guild thca crystalline, $200 a gram for some flavorless crystals precipitated using what is affectionately termed the "neglect tek" and then washed or centrifuged, i would imagine. there is plenty of material on the market in the 95%-98% range that is pretty much exactly the same for less than half the price. not to mention that all the crystalline stuff is totally flavorless and devoid of any depth. their CBD, and really everything they make, is wildly overpriced.

From what I've read, as long
From what I've read, as long as the whole plant has less than something like .3% THC, the extract is legal across the country. That's how we can get it in non-legal states.
I've tried a bunch of CBD products, from the crystals and sprays, to tinctures. Before I started taking it daily, I was sleeping 4-5 hours a night. I immediately started sleeping 7-8 hours a night, and am generally calmer.
The sub-lingual spray did little for me, and for whatever reasons I really didn't dig the crystals. I started taking the Green Mountain CBD, which is grown locally and extracted in coconut oil. One dose is about 20 mg, and I aim for 25-30 mg. The stuff really works.
I noticed that there's a new one out, Charlotte's Web. That might be good.
I just started trying another locally marketed one, Elmore Mountain Therapeutics, which is actually produced in Colorado. It's a much stronger tincture, and I'm pleased. I'm not sure if I'll stick with it or go back to the other one. The cost will be a factor.
One of our local bars makes CBD infused drinks. Their CBD is extracted into maple syrup. I thought it had to be in alcohol or fat, but it seems that it can be in any liquid if it's decarboxylated. Beats me...the drinks are too sweet and a rip off, but it's a nice idea.

>>>which is grown locally and extracted in coconut oil.
full flower oil extracts include chlorophyll and terpenes along with the CBD and probably interact in ways that we simply don't understand yet - the entourage effect - and, like daylight pointed out, because no full-blown research can be done thanks to the Schedule 1 status of cannabis, we are simply left guessing.
my mother is 79 and takes a small daily dose of coconut oil cbd flower extract. She has had migraines since she was 14 and while this doesn't eliminate them, it has greatly reduced the frequency and severity......but fuck it, let's keep it Schedule 1....with no known medical usefulness....knowing that nice people only consume therapeutic alcohol.

That's probably why I didn't like the crystals. Although they are pure, the effects aren't as pure as the whole plant, which gives that entourage effect. How's that for a paradox?

to be perfectly honest, I don't care for concentrates, with the exception of hash. The concentrates get me very high, very quickly and then it wears off very quickly. Everyone I've talked to has that one complaint about the extracts: the high wears off quickly.
the flower high lasts much longer, imo, but it's nice to have the variety of choices that we have today.
we're truly spoiled anymore....I remember only having brick available when I started in the late 70s and looked forward to getting the stems and seeds out because that meant that I actually had some weed...lol

Extracts serve a purpose if you buy large amounts of weed you get immune to it the longer you smoke it. You need to smoke hash, crumble, shatter, pen cartridges and weed. Mixing it up keeps you from mowing through your weed.

Great thread everybody.
Great thread everybody.
joe, ive heard good things about green mountain. their labeling for a whole plant oil is the opposite of the shady business i mentioned earlier...their bottles say "25mg CBD per capsule", not "25mg CBD Oil per capsule", which is where people get confused and taken advantage of. nice!
what routes of administration have you tried with the crystalline material? fwiw CBD distillery has all kinds of crystalline products with terpenes added. AFAIK they are not active orally...but as we've both said now, there is no research, so who knows? ive had some luck with chronic pain and CBD crystal/terpenes or CBD crystal mixed with really terpy BHO.
>>>The concentrates get me very high, very quickly and then it wears off very quickly.<<<
have you ever tried some of the new high terpene varieties of BHO? such as live resin, sugar, HCFSE/HTFSE, or "terp sauce"?
here are a few nice examples;
https://www.instagram.com/p/BYymkxflt4o-94OC5JDvbG6alBmUEALO4ao0H00/?tak...
https://www.instagram.com/p/BVa1nVBnKg2/?taken-by=royal_key_organics
https://www.instagram.com/p/BTjfv68l_GA/?taken-by=extractioneering
these kinds of extracts have a very high terpene content, and are not immediately purged all the way, so as they sit, the residual solvent and high levels of terpenes gass off that the thca precipitates out of solution(neglect tek). once it separates, the non crystalline layer is very runny and often has well over 10% terpene content. these oils have really changed my mind on BHO vs. flowers...once the seperation is complete it's much easier to purge so you dont need much heat at all, allowing for maximum terpene retention, unlike the higher temps and longer times required for shatter. if you get a well made one the high actually lasts longer than flower, and with a small dab, you dont get that super stoned couchlock effect...the effects are pretty much just like flower but a bit stronger. worth trying if you get the chance, but it is not cheap. the nicest stuff runs $120/g, and ive tried some at that price range, and it has astounding flavor and a great high, some of the best ive ever smoked, oil or flower, but wasnt really worth that kind of money in the end. reasonable prices for sauce are more in the $40-$75/g range.
the crystalization you see in the pics i linked to is very likely the first step in creating the overpriced guild thca crystalline...the temp during seperation is controlled to yield larger monocrystals(new industry slang is "diamonds"), and then those crystals are drained of the high terpene layer(which is sold seperatly), and either cleaned by washing with solvents and/or brine, and/or using a laboratory centrifuge. which is part of why i dislike it so much...to get those lange monocrystals you've got to have a fairly terpy extract to begin with, and i bet the unseperated product is pretty tasy and would be affordable, or at least it would be affordable if it did not have the guild name and logo attached to it.
the world of designer weed is upon us. likely within the year. LA will be the hotspot and the jungle boys and some of these super expensive "sauce" companies like royal key or southern humbolt will lead the way.

daylight,
daylight,
Thanks for the great info! Your knowledge in extracts far surpasses mine and I work in the med. field. I am and always have been a grower, going on 28 yrs. Knowledge of getting a plant from clone to flower and giving its utmost is what I specialize in. I take a lot of pride in repeatedly getting a crop to fruition with zero pesticides or synthetic ferts. And in the hot humid summers of the midwest, that's a challenge. After the point of dry/cure, it's someone else's baby.
We do have live resin, sugar, shatter, pure, crystals, etc. we make from different strains. I've tried pure oil, shatter, and an indica wax that knocked me out cold in under an hour :-), but maybe at my age, my nervous system just seems to agree with flower more than anything else. I have not tried cbd crystal at all or the sugars, so I can't relate an opinion for or against. We have a top shelf lab, but it is at a separate facility, so my exposure to new techniques and extract products is limited. I get to visit it for about an hour, twice a year.
The cbd oil extract my mother uses is around 10mg/ml. and I make it for her. She can easily tolerate a tsp on a piece of bread, so 50mg/ day works well for her. A pint of fresh oil lasts her quite a while. Like most here in Babylon, I've been a diy'er when it comes to growing, out of necessity (price, quality, availability). I personally need to know what went into a grow in order to feel comfortable with the finished product. Making the oil extract from those plants allows for stronger medicine of known purity. Zero pesticides and no heavy metal contamination from synthetic ferts are paramount and I've spoken with too many growers who take shortcuts and some who blatantly don't care about the consumer, just the going price for their shitty herb. Garbage in/ garbage out is not a concept a lot of growers seem to understand. Quality extracts start with quality plants.
>>>the world of designer weed is upon us.
You're not kidding. And when legal research can happen, the ability to keep up with the info coming out will be difficult. Lots of good stuff on the horizon for sure. It's an exciting time.
nice to meet you here...
