The Q @ LOCKN' ?

Forums:

Molo, Jimmy and Warren are there and nothing on the DSO calendar for that weekend so Rob is free.

Just sayin'.    enlightened

i heard this from another pal....

its going to happen!!!!

After the last few Q outings this doesn't get me that excited.  I mean they're better quality players than Phil usually plays with but they will he just as under-rehearsed.

But an under-rehearsed Q is still better than most.

but timmy... its teh Q... and like it or not its just the shizzle/hizzle.

this is def going down folks...

im booking flights .......................................now.

This is like that episode of the Sopranos where Tony's cousin Tony Blondetto, Feetch LaMotta and some of the New York crew all get out of the joint around the same time. Everyone thinks it's going to be a big great reunion, but Tony B AND Phil Leotardo both end up getting wacked in the end which goes to show, you don't ever know.

Herring better watch his back.

I'd rather see the Q over any of Phil's lineups, but yeah an unrehearsed Q is still...unrehearsed.  I'm not down with the 'secret' lineup bullshit. Complete disrespect to the audience. Many don't see it that way but it's my take and I'm sticking to it.

I blame the whole cryin ryin fiasco for the 'Phil following his weird' nonsense.

What bands are Molo and Herring with at this year's Locken ?

I'm with Jonas on the whole 'secret lineup' thing. It is complete disrespect for the audience, most of us aren't 22 years old anymore. Kind of like getting blindfolded, then the hooker walks in the room. I know it'll be a good time, but I like to know what I'm getting.

Phil's lineups sell, at best, a handful of tickets. The draw is Phil Lesh, not who he is playing with. I don't think it shows any disrespect to the audience and since most of the shows are usually at or close too capacity, I think most of the audience agrees.

The above becomes even less of a concern at a festival where the cost of the ticket is "spread" out over a number of bands. While I am sure some go to LOCK'N only because of Mr. Lesh's inclusion, I would bet there is still a lot of value if you like the others performers on the bill.

Stop makin' sense, Tony!

What bands are Molo and Herring with at this year's Locken ?<<<<<

Moonalice and Widespread Panic...

This would be a great move by Phl.

Bring on the Q for Lockn Redemption..  Great news for those planning on attending this.

So if Moonalice are there, you could also get an 'Almost Q' or 'Q Plus' with Sless and/or Mookie.

Is Mookie in Moonalice now?

Q gives a fuq?

>>>After the last few Q outings this doesn't get me that excited.  I mean they're better quality players than Phil usually plays with but they will he just as under-rehearsed

Agreed. I was actually surprised how uninspiring that band felt to me watching their last few performances. Felt like a cover band-level performance with no sense of scale or importance whatsoever.

I haven't seen Phil in many years at this point (last show was a very mediocre Furthur performance @ Red Rocks) and I'm fine with that. I don't think I'll ever make the trek to TXR, but I do hope Phil's artistry prevails over his almost laughably obvious financial motivations before he calls it a career. I'd still like to believe he can conjure something greater than "just ok"

My mistake...

Been so long since I've seen them, I forgot that Pete S. handled the keyboards.  Dunno if Mookie sat in when they did the DNB/Moonalice tourette back East.

I too have stopped PAYING to see Phil. Only because at my age I figure the thousand a weekend I would spend might just keep me alive another week when I am really old ( I am on SS now)................better things to do with my dollars at this point in time. Now couch tour is another beast altogether, we still like the music just not the prices. We stream all the Phil shows we can.......

>most of the audience agrees.

The TXR and Cap groupies would pay a c note to see Phil tap a toy piano for 2 hours and call it epic.  Kudos to the Lesh Family Trust.

To think that Warren Haynes only generates a handful of tix is absurd.

What venues does Govt Mule play and sell out on their own?

John Fogerty added today...another announcement 2morrow...

Mule routinely sells out the 2500 seat theatre type gig.

>>>>>>there is still a lot of value if you like the others performers on the bill.

FEST-I-VAL!!

>>>>>>his almost laughably obvious financial motivations

??    seems his decisions are more lifestyle motivated than financial

Well, that about settles it.

If BOTH Timmy and Mark think the Q are passé - then what discerning Phil Lesh fan is going to waste his or her time on them ever again?

More dance room for Nycdave, I guess.

>>> Phil's lineups sell, at best, a handful of tickets. The draw is Phil Lesh, not who he is playing with.

I'm not totally sure this is right. The Cap Q shows in March 2016 were the hardest tickets to get for any Phil Cap run that I can recall -- very fast sellouts. The Q retains some special X factor (both their reputation and their musical synergy) that I think makes for a somewhat bigger draw, even if those shows showed they are nowhere near what they were in 2001-2003.

Really, anything that gets Jimmy Herring and Phil together when I'm happy with.

>>even if those shows showed they are nowhere near what they were in 2001-2003

The Grateful Dead in 1984 were nowhere near what they were in 1969 or 1972  either. No big deal. The Dead still drew pretty well in 1984.

>>Really, anything that gets Jimmy Herring and Phil together when I'm happy with.

I agree 100 % - and even though they cannot ne (by not playing together frequently enough or even rehearsing) or won't be as good as they were in 2001 - 2003 - I can deal with that.

Do you like Jimmy in Widespread?

so what you are saying is weather its 1969, or 1974, or 1982 or even 2002, its not ever going to be the sames?

Not really. I am not a fan of WSP. The Best WSP show I saw was in 1990 or 1991 with Houser. I saw them open for the ABB once after that many years later when Houser was gone and Jimmy was in the band. I could not understand a damn word that John Bell mumbled all night - and I was in the 9th row center. Jimmy and Schools were excellent, but the whole show lacked what I needed. I have a bunch of friends who love them - but not everyone likes licorice. Lots of bands in this world, thankfully.

Correct, jon. There is nothing you can hold for very long.

And they paved paradise and put up a Chipotles , a Five Guiys and a Starbucks.

And...Hey man - is that Freedom Rock? Well turn it up, man!

What kind of person quadruple posts?

Somebody dealing with unimaginable inner tension, usually.

Do you know what Sixy looks like, Timbo?

No

IMG_8823.JPG

The guys 77 yrs old and wants to play with his son and be around his grandchildren. 50 years ain't enough?

What he's done for the bay area music scene with Terrapin Crossroads most people don't know. Allot of local bay area musicians pick up there paychecks there when not on tour from playing with Phil and the free bar shows. Plus it's like a club house.

As sir Willie Nelson sings...The life I love is making music with my friends

To each his own...Phil included!

I look like a bitch? I thought I looked like an old lady by the window.

You two look like negative assholes pissing on voodoo's thread about the Q.

Oh wait - you don't just look like that - that IS what you are.

As long as JRAD is there, I don't care who Phil brings.

At this point all of Phil's lineups are unrehearsed, except maybe the Terrapin Family Band.

>>>>>>>What kind of person quadruple posts?

it's very common on that Twitter that you're so very fond of

>>>>I look like a bitch? I thought I looked like an old lady by the window.

I don't know what you look like.

You're sure act ike a bitch quite a bit.  Don't get too worked up about it though.  Remember you don't care what I think.

zzzz

And you act like a negative asshole. lol

MOMMY DADDY STOP YELLING AT EACH OTHER!!!!!!

hqdefault_4.jpg

Okay, Ned. I'm done.

Thanks, Mommy.

Will 2019 mark the 20th anniversary of The Q?

Nope.  2000 was the 1st year of the quintet.

>>>>As long as JRAD is there, I don't care who Phil brings.

This is the type of happy positive attitude we need around here, JRAD will be good as usual and if it is the Q you will probably get a bonus solid show. Just might do one of the days. I remember driving by a few years ago and was tempted to stop, thunder storms around and when we drove farther down 29 i saw this roadkill black bear and wanted to stop and cut the claws off(denied).

They need DeadCo for this (ducking) ..

>>>This is the type of happy positive attitude we need around here,

said the friend of the alt-right zone.

BBB started out as a Bliss Ninnie too

>> i saw this roadkill black bear and wanted to stop and cut the claws off(denied). <<

sick fuck

Seriously, why would you want a bear's claws?

Thought it only "meant something" when you kill the bear yourself.

Although I don't know why someone would do that, either, unless it was self-defense.

Even if a bear attacked me and, by some miracle, I managed to overcome it, I would never think of mutilating its body.

It's okay guys.  Fog is a Native Person.  Haynessweatpants Tribe.

Its called taxidermy, it was past expiration and stunk so it was out of the question. Understandably stomach turning for those not use to it. Surprised it was still there and not picked up for the pelt alone.

>>Seriously, why would you want a bear's claws?

First thing i didn't stop, so calm down everyone. To answer your question i would have gifted them away to an elder at the sun dance.

>> Its called taxidermy

HAHA!!  No.

Isn't taxidermy the skin rash you get from using Uber?

good one Surf, LOL....

They need DeadCo for this thing(ducking)..<<<<<>

The only day that fits into Mayer's schedule is for dead co to play on Thursday...they have 2 more days of announcements this week..we shall see..

IMG_2322_0.JPGIMG_2323_1.JPG

...

Easy, guys.

Fog only wanted to desecrate the corpse of that bear as an offering to the tribal elders.

Ya know, at the sun dance.

>>>>>it was past expiration and stunk so it was out of the question.

>>>>>First thing i didn't stop, so calm down everyone.

Which was it, Fog?

That's a pretty big hole in the story.

Looks like Fog has hisself a credibility problem.

I think any mystical value of a bear's claw is depleted when they are ripped from a rotting, roadkill corpse.

Probably so, Ned.

After reading this, I have to wonder if Fog doesn't go around punching cats in the whiskers.

Absolutely deplorable behavior.

Maybe he cruised slowly by with the window open and his head hanging out, thus ascertaining the odoriferousness of said ursine without having to actually stop?

It's possible.

Both, it smelled bad when we drove by. The statements do not contradict.

Troll me all you want Timmy if thats what gets you off, have at it man. Truth be told i'm not shitshowing with you or anyone else here from now on. Please just leave me alone and i'll do the same with you.

I told you early on the game wasn't for you, Fog; but you didn't listen.

Anyway, hopefully the Q gets back together and plays a brilliant, career-defining show that reestablishes their greatness. I'd be into that.

>>>>>it smelled bad when we drove by

Then why did you want to stop and get its claws?

If i had more time for the silly childish game and maybe if i was 16 it would be more appealing, bickering with the same people has gotten old, sorry guys. Its like a broken record of groundhog day around here, lol.  We need some new people in here to spice this up.

We like driving that stretch of 29 going down to Burlington nc. If the Q is playing we would consider it.

Bowing out and focusing on your beard art seems like the right course of action, Fog.

Good luck.

So divisive.

You guys. You guys. You guys.
You guys. You guys. You guys.

Anti combative, not divisive. Thanks Mark,

Bike repair is my new interest. Just picked up a free beach cruiser in need of repair, Paul Frank amphibious asphalt vehicle. Needs new pedals and a seat.

Feed the squirrel with your dreams, Fog.

How about dismissive?

How about douchebagive?

Disco Biscuits announced today....one more 2morrow..

I'm prepared to accept your unconditional surrender whenever you're ready, Sixy.

Your comrades have fallen, just as many predicted they would.

Careful 6, don't step in troll poop.

How about douchebagive?

you have the opportunity to preview your comment before posting it.  just a head's up for next time.

>>just a head's up for next time.

Head's up your ass, beast?

So lashy.

My comrades?

implied face plant.jpg

Douchebagive should be written into the pz/viva dictionary.

Yes, Six. Your comrades.

comrade two.jpg

The preview function also works for pictures and memes, Six.

FYI.

Speaking of functions - Hey Judit -  where is that damn ignore feature I was promised!

I'm officially on snark hiatus until further notice. Not fallen.

Judit just gave me the code to turn on the ignore feature! My day is made. Sweet!

Fog, I saw a dead coyote the other day.  I'd be happy to saw it's head off and send it to you so you don't go to the Sun Dance with no offerings for the elders.

Let me know.

No coyote heads needed, good lookin out though. If you see any elk antlers i'll take those, not the head just the antlers.

What do you mean, Fog? I didn't post about coyote heads. I'll try to seek out some antlers for you like you asked me to do, though.

HHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,  love it... hilarious...

<<<Disco Biscuits announced today

Jesus, that's not helping.

What would you do with elk antlers?

HA.^^

<<<Judit just gave me the code to turn on the ignore feature

You don't use the one God gave you, why would you use Judit's?

Judit is my God. May you also have such a worthwhile deity to honor and respect some day. Namaste

Sixy, you're doing that thing you do where every one of your posts is somehow even more painfully corny than the one before it.

I'm only telling you because I care.

maybe phil will play 5/8/77 w/ the ross james band?

yeah, that's it.

lol.

should be good.....

"Weir tells Rolling Stone he's taking a very laissez faire approach to the performance. "I get to the festival and somebody slaps me on the shoulder and says, ‘You’re on,'" he says."

Jesus.

We know, Bob, we know.

Coorrrinnaaa!

It's gonna be slow, slow, slow

Maybe Warren will still sit in

>>> Thanks Mommy

Ouch and lol.

Et tu, Jaz?

Very unfortunate.

No Q

We will always have Paris.

I mean the recordings.

No Q? Good golly gosh! And after all the time peeps spent posting negativity about Phil and the current state of the Q, too. Seems like such a shame.

IMG_1103.JPG

I can't see the complete image above on my phone.

3 sets with Phil!

2 JRAD late nights!

I have never seen the John Butler Trio, I'm looking forward to that (hope I'm awake)

>>>>>>No Q? Good golly gosh! And after all the time peeps spent posting negativity about Phil and the current state of the Q, too. Seems like such a shame.

Well Phil listened to the squeaky wheels and decided two sets with a well rehearsed family band,

and with a bit of snark will play on Sunday for a bunch of moe.rons.

cheeky

I'm impressed by the Bold Thurs. lineup; Cheese Ghee, Cheese Ghee, Biscuits.

Better pack Xtra Xtra Extra.

It's a bold plan.

I am at peace with my decision to pass on Lockn.

Fogerty before Panic, he fronted them for his set at the first LOCKN'

I would guess that would happen again.

Derek came out during that set and he Jimmy and Fogerty had my jaw on the floor for a moment or two,

Zooey, too bad would have loved to meet ya

It's gonna b a blast but bring your wallet...

Is the family band the new Q? Asking for a friend

I remember when jokes on da zone use to be funny....

I agree that Lockaroo is a bit costly.  The one year I went, felt like I got my money's worth.  Aside from the bassackwards entrance policy, plenty good Bands and decent food / Beer concessions in the main venue and around the campgrounds.

Shower setup was lousy.  That would be a gripe, maybe they've fixed that.

Phil and moe is interesting. Al Schnier played a few great shows with Phil back in the day (May 2005 at the Warfield for one - https://archive.org/details/phil2005-05-13_dsbd.flacf)
