Anne Heche suffered a severe brain injury in her car crash last week and is not expected to survive, a representative for the actress' family said Thursday. Heche is being kept alive in a coma on life support as organ donation is being considered as an option, her spokesperson said.
The statement issued on behalf of Heche's family and friends read: "We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital. Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.

On August 19, 2000, Heche drove from Los Angeles to Cantua Creek in a Toyota SUV. Heche, who was wearing a bra and shorts at the time, parked the car and walked 1+1⁄2 miles before reaching a ranch house. The house owner, who had seen Heche in a movie, recognized her and let her in. The owner assumed that Heche was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but Heche later revealed that she had taken ecstasy. After taking a shower, Heche entered the living room, asked for a pair of slippers, and suggested that they should watch a movie. After half an hour, the owner contacted the sheriff's department. Heche later told the deputies that she was "God, and was going to take everyone back to heaven in a spaceship." She was then taken by ambulance to Fresno's University Medical Center and admitted to the psychiatric unit, but was released within a few hours.
Heche stated she was "insane" for the first 31 years of her life, and that this was triggered by being sexually abused by her father during her infancy and childhood. In a series of interviews with Barbara Walters, Matt Lauer, and Larry King to promote Call Me Crazy in 2001, Heche stated on national television that she created a fantasy world called the "Fourth Dimension" to make herself feel safe, and had an alter ego who was the daughter of God and half-sister of Jesus Christ named "Celestia", who had contacts with extraterrestrial life forms. Heche said she recovered from her mental health concerns following the incident in Cantua Creek and has put her alter ego behind her

I had read she had 2 recent accidents, one where she drove into the house and the other where she drove into a tree.

I'm just glad she didn't kill anyone.
It's a sad story and all, but she was driving upwards of 90 miles an hour in a residential neighborhood with people walking dogs and kids playing.
It's hard to have a lot of sympathy.
These type of stories are wearing me out.

Ah, he used to drive himself around all the time. He usually took the van to and from the venue for GD shows, but he often drove to Bay area JGB shows.
He crashed into a barrier on 101 one time in Marin Co. in his BMW.
He scared Phil (riding shotgun) nearly to death driving to his own re-hab appointment in 85.
