Proud Boys/NeoNazis vs Fox News

Forums:

You can't stop Fox News.

watch Vice, if you've yet to

I like Vice for some things.. I'm a believer in consuming media from all over the spectrum and there are definitely things Vice provides me that I find valuable.  Often times, I find their reporting a little too fringey on the left.  Hi Jill.

I had two encounters with racism this week. I'm in Kentucky right now and had a pretty blatant encounter this morning while buying bananas at the grocery store.  Some guy in line walked up to me and goes "Those bananas are no good, you know that right?" and I was like like "oh?" and he goes "the people who eat them, we hang 'em from trees down here" and based on my reaction he was like "Oh what?  It's just a little joke we have around here"  ::shakes head::

The other was on my Uber drive to airport.  The driver asked where I was going and I said Kentucky and the driver goes "Oh Kentucky!  My good friend Terri lives down there- he's got a tattoo of a pig hanging from a noose on his right arm and one of a black guy hanging on his left arm"  He's a great guy though"

WTF!  I think they're feeling pretty emboldened right now.

>>>>a black guy hanging on his left arm

One day that idiot is going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and get what is coming.

Vice News is pretty good.  Better than the drivel you see on Fox and CNN.  They cover a lot of stories around the globe that just don't get attention otherwise.

When I was at the protests on Saturday, I was interviewed at length by a guy who said he was being paid $25 per hour to be down there and get video and interviews.  He wasn't sure exactly who or what is for, but it is probably some sort of media startup that wants to be like Vice with its edgy, on the ground reporting.

wow siobud, that's fucked up.

what? really?

>>what? really?

Yea it was pretty fucked up.  I was taken back, too, that none of the several people around me batted an eye or acted like anything awful was just said.  I'm sure I stuck out in a suit in rural Kentucky and feel like this guy saw an opportunity to express himself a bit.

*Double Post*

What are you doing in a suit in rural Kentucky?  Only bible salesmen, fried chicken moguls, and people going to funerals wear suits in rural Kentucky.

^ LOL.  I do software demonstrations for an EHR vendor so I go pretty much everywhere in the US, Canada and Caribbean that has a hospital.

*Double Post again wtf*

Sounds like Kentucky is as much a stuck in the 1940's shithole as it's representation to congress.

Bible salesman, I love it

Bible salesman, I love it

Doin' that double post boogie

Fox News is not in Kentucky.

I visited Louisville a couple weeks ago- saw lots of Somali immigrants. So that's pretty progressive, right? No shit on the sidewalks though, so i deducted some points! :)

Mammoth Cave National Park is pretty badass though
