The only thing the med card is good for at Harborside (dispensary I go to)  is they let the med card customers go to the front of the VERY LONG line . 

I thought only republicans bitched about taxes.

I go to Airfield in San Jose - their notice (that i didn't keep a copy of) said there are 3 separate taxes and medical users are exempt from one of them. We'll see if that's what the bill says next time.

sandiego head - check out @stoneystevesmokeout and @terpedoutsesh710 on instagram they are cannabis events that used to be pretty much legal, but imo are obviously not legal under the new laws. they are all trying to find a loophole or workaround and in the meantime are just carrying on and holding events, i guess assuming that due to measure Z any law enforcement in oakland will not go after them.

they are events where cannabis companies come and sell direct, much much much cheaper than dispensaries. check it out, harborside was stupidly, stupidly expensive even before prop 64 taxes kick in, i cant imagine what it would be like afterwards.

take advantage of this while you still can...not sure how much longer this will be an option.

Not sure why folks are surprised by this. The ability to tax cannabis is the only reason it is legal. I think this is also a reason Sessions is changing federal policy, they want to kill this "blue state" cash cow.

With the amount of taxes on other "vices," I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this. I figure by the time cannabis is legal on the federal level, close to 50% of the cost will be taxes. 

So the industry will shut down because it's too expensive? Any guess what the price per gram will be?

I went on the first day in California and it was very expensive! I bought three eighths and some edibles for a total of $210.92, plus tax of $61.70 (29.25%). Cash only, no debit or credit cards at this place. They said they were required to put everything in those opaque white childproof ziplock bags - wish I had a piece that bag racket!

zooey, do you live in socal? i dont know if i am remembering correctly, but if so you should look into TLC collective, they have much better prices on some of the best weed on the CA market by the jungle boys

right now various corners of instagram are a free for all. the companies that did not get licenses are setting up their hustle, there are good deals and good connections to be found all over the place that could keep people going until the prices drop a bit.

$60 in taxes on a $210 purchase is high, but thats not the problem...the problem is dispensaries charging $55 an 1/8th or $10-$15 for an edible. i wonder what the final ticket would be if the weed was priced fairly at $35-$40 an 1/8th and $5 for an edible...the pricing on korova's CBD stuff is insane. i can get full spectrum hemp extracts or crystal CBD in the $30/gram range at retail prices, much cheaper in bulk, but somehow combining 100mg of CBD and a hershey's bar makes it worth $15??? edibles are almost always made with a farmer's lowest dregs...not to say it is dirty or unsafe, just that they sell the nice big buds, make good hash from the small buds and sugar leaf, and then the bags of trim with high fan leaf and stem content are sent out to be made into distillate or RSO style hash for edibles. average quality cannabis edibles should not cost that much more than their non-cannabis counterpart in a normal grocery store.

So $70 eighths in limited rec stores. 25-30$ a gram. 

What did medicinal cost in January 1997?

prices peaked in CA around 2004-2008 there were a few years there where $60 an 1/8th for top shelf indoor on the black market was the norm.

black market adjusted its prices as the price per pound fell...but dispensaries all kinda collectively decided, fuck it, the $60 1/8th is here to stay so that the dispensaries and brokers can line their pockets while profits for the farmers continue to drop and costs for users continue to stay high.

I haven't been to a reno shop yet (still a CA resident with rec) but I believe the excise taxes for rec are 10%, plus whatever the county/city sales tax is. Medical doesn't have to pay the excise tax. Everything looked pretty expensive per oz let alone for eight/quarter and is probably pretty subpar.

no you have to contact them on instagram. and what sucks about instagram is that you cant use the DM/private message feature unless you are using the app on your phone...not on a home computer or laptop. you dont have to officially register, you just DM them a pic of your medical rec and state ID and they will send you the address. lately the addresses have been changing quite a bit or i would just email you the address. once you know where and when it is, at least for most of them, you can just show up with your rec and ID.

@weedallstarllc orbit show is the best one in both sac and oakland, and afaik is the only one with no cover charge. other events cost $5-$10 for entry. its usually in south sac around fruitridge and florin perkins, but their account is private, so you have to request to follow them and get approved before you can see the ads w/ date and time of the events, but they accept everyone so thats no prob. if you are trying to save $$ on high end herb its really worth getting an instagram account and following your favorite companies. you can stay up to date on when companies you like drop product at a dispensary near you, special deals at dispensaries, events with cheaper prices, or companies doing demos and selling at a discount at various dispensaries.

orbit is going down tonight 730-1030. if you are not able to get on instagram and get the address, orbit is usually somewhere between fruitridge and elder creek rd on florin perkins. if you head down there you will probably see tons of cars and skeezy stoners milling about. follow the foot traffic, have your rec and ID ready for entry and you will be good to go, you dont actually need to register or get on a list. but at the same time its totally possible that they have moved to a new venue and wont be in that area...but thats always where its been when i have gone.

Thanks again for the info. I sort of had a feeling it was IG only, may check it out at some point as a $5-10 entry is nothing if you can get getting killer deals. 

plf where at? i think some places might be waiting on licensing and continuing to operate under old med laws until it goes thru, which is ok depending on where the dispensary is located, and also am wondering if any of them will be hoping nobody will notice if they dont abide by the regs and are going to try and continue operating without them
