Actually, the PdaNet solved the problem of no internet at home. I cut my landline a while back, losing the old dial-up connection. With a cheap smartfone, and that app, I can get faster internet for a lower price.
hey, i've got a few used airport express base stations just lying, great shape, not in use – supports up to 802.11n – email in profile if you're interested.
The PdaNet app + an android device enables 'tethering' to your PC or Mac. It has three options; USB mode using a wire between android & PC, Bluetooth mode, or as a WiFi hotspot. Since I don't have cable or satellite internet, this works OK for me. The free version requires a restart after xx amount of data throughput. THe full version is only 8 bucks !!
I suppose I can rig up an airport express somehow to set up a wireless network at home. For now, this is a decent low-budget (and low-bandwidth) solution, given my geographical limitations. I am in a dead zone at home, but this droid manages to pull 3G & 4G connections most of the time. So now I don't have to drive 5+ miles to look up directions
Yeah GDTRB, I prolly just need to update Chrome. Eventually I might, but I actually like the other generic browser better. Really, I don't need to be zoning from the woods -- I'm supposed to be working out there.

Jill, Chrome wouldn't work for me (see anomaly/glitch thread)
All I got was the 'Preview' button.
However, I just installed "PdaNet" and my 'droid is now a modem & router, which I can run a laptop or desktop from and be online.
