"Live webcast (audio) from Sacramento on the 50th Anniversary Tour. Live chat as well. Broadcast begins at 7 PM PST, concert at 8 PM."
Saw them twice in the 70's, good times!
Love Ian Anderson's story about why he plays flute, essentially walking into the store and seeing this shiny thing on the wall, and realized that Jimi, Jeff, Jimmy, and Eric could all play the shit out of the guitar, but they sucked at the flute, so it was just meant to be...
I was at the Greek Theater in Berkeley last Saturday night - 4th row center in the pit.
I can emphatically say that Ian Anderson's flute playing, stage presence, harmonica work and presentation were fantastic and powerful.
I can also emphatically say that Ian Anderon's voice is utterly gone - it's a failed instrument that is shockingly sad to be witness too.
It was as if he was unable to catch his breath and in many cases it caused him to constantly be a beat behind when he sang.
Late in the 2nd set a lot of his vocal delivery was covered by others and by characters in the accompanying video feeds.
I saw Tull annually - '79 - 84 at MSG and was looking forward to this 50th Anniversary tour to the point where I bought tickets for a ridiculously high price on day of sale.
I left satisfied with the presentation but groaning at the pitiful-ness of the vocals.... YMMV.
