has the best sound on the mixlr I've found so far.

How many Phish shows have you been to, Gravy?

Do you go with the kids?

Nice first set

>>Do you go with the kids?

Not yet, but my son wants to go. He's started drumming and appreciates Fishman's work. We've watched many streams together.

My daughter wants me to take her to Taylor Swift.

Outdoor, daytime shows are o.k. for the kids. They've seen Bob Weir in that setting.

The Squirming Coil

My last show was BGCA 2016 and I usually listen to about half the recordings on a given tour the last few years

WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Tonight was a Phish show.

Tonight was a rock 'n roll show.

Damn that was fun.

And the Civic fucking rocks.

Troy’s fingers don’t work as well as they used to. Songs like “Guyute” and “Maze” drive that unfortunate point home and it’s why they won’t touch “Taste” anymore.

Carini was really good

Taste was played in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009.

Yeah and did you hear the one from 2017 OTC? It was pretty bad. I’m a big fan of that song and Phish but I’m not a fluffier. The only reason they played it in 2017 was they basically had to during the bakers dozen.

I’ll revise my earlier statement to say they “shouldn’t play taste any more” and Troy knows why it’s because it makes his fingers and brain hurt attempting it,

I mean I love him and all but he’s not the player he once was.

Fair enough, Bucky.

11 song first set...

Nice song selection.

Replay this morning if you missed any songs.
Sounds really quite nice.

Trey ain't gonna be able to play everything from the old days. Tela doesn't sound exactly right either. That's OK. He's the same age now as Jerry was when died just to put it in perspective.

Pigtail

I'm halfway, fully, nearly, close to just beyond it
Right beside and just a hair's breadth, in between, next to and closer
I'm approximately, roughly, more or less, about exactly
Almost close by and adjacent
Handy local, within hailing
But the cloud then passes over
And you're vague aloof and distant
Isolated and secluded
Far flung, far off and remote
You're faint and hazy indistinct
Your pigtail has been dipped in ink
Dipped in ink

Reserved you wander unattached,
Till the sun comes out at last
Somehow, you comprehend, and I'm becoming conscious again
I'm becoming conscious again
Unconscious again
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again
Unconscious again
Appreciate, grasp, and recognize our mutually proximate prize

And if the stars line up tonight
Then you and I will be all right
If the planets don't align
You go your way, I'll go mine
I don't mind
I don't mind
I don't mind

Your pigtail dipped in ink
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again
Your pigtail dipped in ink
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again
Your pigtail dipped in ink
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again
Your pigtail dipped in ink
I'm conscious again
Unconscious again

I'm conscious again
Unconscious again

Sounds like they are playing the whole show again. Trey on that 46 Days is hilarious he does a long ambient digital whale solo then divebombs it brilliantly back into the cresting ending. Then Trey says "can we play that one again?"

The light show was amazeballs - a huge number of computer and cable controlled, independent fixtures on mobile trusses that rose and fell and swooped and reformed with the music.
Incredible distraction for those who lack the attention span to really dig the jams....

Where do you go when the lights go out?

Trey being the same age as Jerry when he passed is interesting.

I’m assuming Phish likes the Bill Graham Civic. Sure beats the shoreline amphitheater.

"I’m assuming Phish likes the Bill Graham Civic. Sure beats the shoreline amphitheater. "

I so concur - but only for one reason (cause face it - it's a sweaty, uncomfortable, concrete box of a venue with echoey sound and a 50's era aesthetic.)
The reason: It's Democratic - anyone can get to the front row (though that's not exactly easy, it's potentially doable).
The first 20 feet from the stage are not populated by uber-innies, corporate A holes or citizens of Mountain View - though I am sure some of them are there.
But the open flow concept is Socialist and Shoreline is pure fuckin' capitalism.

I’ll take BGC over Shoreline for the simple reason that you aren’t stuck in Mountain View before and after the show, but  still would prefer The Greek.

Also,  The Shoreline is a pain in the ass to get to and out of. The bathrooms suck and the noise ordinances.

.

Yes^^the Greek is cool.

Doubt the city of Berkeley would allow Phish to play.

Tahoe was so fun for all the obvious reasons.  Beautiful weather, tight band, old friends.

BGCA is a rock hall.  Energy is great and it is truly general admission   Shoreline has done a nice job over the decades but being in the city with easy access to transpo makes all the difference.   Amazing how hard the "repeats" in the second set last night ripped big

I am wearing shorts tonight.   No LA for me.  Inglewood always up to no good, y'all.

I'm not sure that Socialism, which does after all require a good deal of government coercion on a population living under it, can really be described as "open flow".
