I knock JK often but I must admit he carried this band. Held the door open for SJ while modestly taking a back seat. JK earned a spot on the roster of rotating players. Phil , PLEASE Wave SJ and like you always do take the Grateful Dead legacy to higher levels!

This is funny as all nite
This is funny as all nite from where we were sitting in balcony (strange angle of JK)...I kept saying to Bob " JK looks SO small, like really small....it made me laugh a bit too much tho :) " . I felt like he was barely there for most of the 1st nite. ...even in sound !
I don't know maybe it was the roses ? for me at least.....lol !

If you always want the music
If you always want the music to sound similar to what is was before then you're missing the point of Phil & Friends. Stanley did fine Friday night and added a completely new texture to the mix.
And John was more animated and in control on Friday than I had even seen him. If he had been that aggressive in Furthur they would have been a much better band.

JK knowing the tunes so well played rhythm opening the door for SJ to step up. JK did the same for many great Phriends like Scofield. Unfortunately SJ could not do the same for JK.
