Watching video of 2nd night, I see the sunburst Stratocaster seems to have a Fender logo on the headstock.
So this is not the Hoeg custom Strat, but an actual Fender ??
(Link above is about Hoeg's Blue Lightning Bolt guitar).

No it is a Supro made here on Long Island, that Bob Weir now endorses his signature model.

Hoeg made him a sunburst
Hoeg made him a sunburst Strat for the FTW shows. It says Hoeg on the headstock but looks like a fender logo from a distance.
I’m not finding any info about a Supro model on their website. The have a David Bowie guitar though.
Also, I was in the mountains yesterday and didn’t get to watch the video of night 2 before the link I had got pulled. Anybody got a super secret link they want to email me that would be cool.

After reading the article....
I could have sworn that the first time I saw Bob play one of the lighting bolt guitars was at the remembrance celebration for Dick held in Petaluma in August of '99. After finding the page online:
http://www.gdforum.com/news/dickwake.html
I can see that the guitar Bob was playing that night didn't have the lighting bolt cutaways.
BTW, there's a picture of me in there but you have to know what to look for.

The knee-drop Tele might be
The knee-drop Tele might be the deceased brother's Fender, or the Hoeg copy thereof.
"...Rich Hoeg, who left Modulus to form Hoeg Guitars, still maintains his connection with Weir. In fact, Hoeg replicated the instrument that perhaps Weir holds closest to his heart, which is his deceased brother’s guitar.
“One of the first instruments Rich built under his own name was for Bob Weir: a copy of Bob’s brother’s 1956 Telecaster,” appears on Hoeg’s site..."
Found a thread about yet another Strat here:

That one looks like it has a flat finish, and the jack has a peculiar angle, as the guy in the thread points out.

Definitely says Fender on the headstock.

Now, can we talk about the new PRS Stratocopy JM signature? It took them 2 1/2 years to design a Strat copy with a reverse PRS headstock.

Such bullshit .. Reach for the Sky indeed.
The YouTube rollout is laughable as well. One of them has jm's guitar tech saying "I like these pickups they work" and "I like what you've done with the knobs".

But but.....
But but.....
It's the JOHN MAYER Model!!!!!!!!
"The headstock shape is based on PRS’s trademark design, but inverted to both accommodate Mayer’s playing style..."
What does that even mean? How does inverting the headstock change anything that happens below the nut?

The lengths of the strings beyond the nut all look different.

I think when playing singular
I think when playing singular notes on the first couple frets, JM didn't like how the traditional PRS headstock would get in the way when he angled his hand to fret those notes. The headstock is pretty different considering how iconic that shape has been for PRS. I am pretty sure he had this done on his Signature Super Eagle as well.

I've never had a problem with it before....
