Who may I crash with in SF?

very interesting.

what a town.

interesting.  Wonder if the collab with Rick from Goose will carry over to the Cap for birthday shows?  Goose playing March 8-12.  someone else is booked the 16th

More Grahame Lesh & Friends. Great.

love the poster

Saw this band with Madeski on keys at the Cap. They rocked.

I SO Want To Be There Warfield Magic w Phil

Just in case I can make it, I booked 2 rooms at 2 different Philtons in downtown SF -- got a great rate (for SF) w/ AAA membership. (Parc 55 and Financial District Hiltons)

I just stayed at Parc 55 for The Wolf Bros at The Warfield . Great location and nice hotel.

Molo makes it good.

There's a brand new hotel they just built that's right next to the Warfield. I believe it just opened and rooms are available for those dates.

https://www.thelinehotel.com/san-francisco/

^^^ Very nice, didn't know about that place.... all the rooms are well over $200 / night, though.

Wowwwww!!

How i miss (((the City)))

Have the best best best time all who attend!!!!!

Bitchin', LLO!!!

Used to stay at the Alisa Good Fortune motel whenever I was there. Wonder if it still exists

Ahhhh, the wonderful memories y'all are bringing back !!!

We used to stay at the historic Whitcomb Hotel on Market for Warfield and BGCC shows - unfortunately I believe it's currently closed.

Sold out on the presale. Why do they let you in when there are no tickets available

Only tix I've been able to pull on AMEX presale are balconies. Anyone else get lucky ?

Goldenvoice presale is evidently for uber-innies as they haven't promoted the presale or sent an email out.

Keep trying, I just put 2 GA in my cart... but then it kicked me out

password is GRAVY

I just now (10:33am PST) grabbed a pair of lower loge section 2. Keep trying. AmEx presale.

Was able to get 1 GA for both nights!

Someone please connect me to a remote job for early January so that I can make the trip, LOL.

I got GA for both nights

We are in! GA first night. Section 7 Row A second night. Hope to see ya there...

Ok just got 2 GA for Wednesday with the GRAVY code. Thanks

After failing to get tix earlier, I went out to do an errand, and just for fun, relaunched the app on my phone and got 2 GA for each night. This was at 11:15.

Scored 3 x GA 12.27.22 -- 4 x GA 12.28.22.

So happy, perfect timing as above.  AXS puts shit tix out 1st, always ( I buy singles, always works with AXS).

Lollo:  Sheraton San Rafael, room with patio opens to hot tub.  Always sweet!

Thanks Andy, but I always enjoy staying in the city!

Fingers crossed that I can make the trip and parlay NYE music down there, too.

Thank you for the ZMA Zooey

Got GA on Weds

Took your advice Tom and got a room at The Line. Thx for the tip.

Fun soon come- nice xmas gift.

^^^^ yay Treeflo!

I'll research a Zoner meetup option close by.

"I'll research a Zoner meetup option close by."

Tú Lan

What fun end of 2022 news.

Wonder what Phil has up his sleeve for 2023.

Bizzare!!!  ^^^^ I was just reading Tu Lan's good Googe reviews! https://us.orderspoon.com/tulan-vietnamese-restaurant?

On the list...

as well as 54Mint Trattoria https://www.54mint.com/

... and Burma Love
... and Charmaine's Rooftop

Anyone know these places?

I say party at Treeflo's room!

And Mr. Treeflo, since I haven't ever been to that new hotel I wouldn't say I was necessarily giving "advice" to stay there, more of just a public service announcement. But, it is brand new so at least it will likely not have bed bugs yet, and it's right next to the venue! Hope it turns out to be a good spot.

On another note, I'm still curious about the dates, and that Phil has a nice band together just before New Years Eve. Is it possible there's a NYE show about to be announced separately from these two, either at the Warfield (which isn't booked for the 31st) or maybe the Fox in Oakland, which is also dark on NYE at the moment?

Probably just wishful thinking, but these days I have a lot of time to think wishfully.

Either way, these will certainly be fun nights. After seeing Phil a ridiculous amount of times for around ten years, I've only seen him once in the past three years, and that one time was a year & a half ago. It's been far too long.

And speaking about long times, 100 years for the Warfield? That's kind of amazing. And what's even more amazing for me personally is that I've been going to events there for almost half of that time. In February of '23 it will be 43 years I've been going to shows in that great old place.

And even though I've never heard of most of the bands that play there now, hopefully I'll get in there for a few more before I'm done.

GTTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some of you on Wednesday!

We're the 2008 "Closing of The Warfield" shows the last time Phil & Friends played there? Over 14 years?

Yes, those were the last Phil shows at the Warfield

I have not been able to load up any tickets on my computer screen.

Of course, Tickets On Sale and then a long series of hoops to get to the show, not at all a new thing.

>>>We're the 2008 "Closing of The Warfield" shows the last time Phil & Friends played there? Over 14 years?

Bring back the go go dancers

tix at Warfield box office this sunday 10am w/o fees for those willing to risk a sellout (possible) or prime lower balc/lodge (definetly).

this strategy did not work for Wolf bros but that was a sat/sun and bobs 75th. I only wanted a single show from that run, friday and got what I needed plus some advance tix for DSO and Jazz is Dead @ Regency.

Carry on...

>> I say party at Treeflo's room! <<

Sounds fun. I'll let mgmnt know it was your idea.

Im much more inclined to pre-game then post game activities.

Added tues nite as well. Woot

Roarshock, do you need a GA for 12/27? Have an extra ready to transfer for face + fees:

That would be great as there isn't much going on in the Bay Are this NYE.

"Roarshock, do you need a GA for 12/27?"

Yes. I will take that spot. Thanks, Zooey!

Done!

is this goose guitar dude enough?

is he that good?

I don't know about that, but Phil is enough.

((((( Phil is enough )))))

..and Trey's horn section

I'd like to see this line up:

Molo,Mattson,Phil,Bowling,Eaton

>>is he that good?<<

He's pretty talented.

How he works with Phil is unknown at this point.

He and Trey sure hit it off well.

i guess we'll see soon enough.

I saw this band at the Cap, Rob was great with Phil and more than holds his own!

Philoween -- Get ready for December

Got my Tues/Weds duckets this am at the Warfield Box Office. Arrived just at opening and there was a Zoner already there! Right on Roarshock

Saved $70 bucks on my order which I'll apply to the 4 beers at the venue haha

C ya on the floor...

'Twas a most civilized ticket buying experience.

These surprise shows are an infusion of joy to send out 2022.

The last week of shows in a year has for a long time been some of the most magical, musically and tribally. Definitely that history in the Bay Area.

Good gifts from Phil and Friends on the menu.

It's the Holiday Season!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx2YoHZml8I

seems there would be more buzz...and IS this the 1st time since the album shows? i think so...?

This is the first time since the album shows and the shows are pretty much sold out, all that is left are balcony tickets on either extreme side.

not Tuesday???

See ya tuesday.

....and weds.

Me too!

I'll be there Tuesday. Haven't seen Phil at the Warfield since him & Bobby closed it out in 2008 & Jackie's Bday show 2007. Two great shows and memories. Can't wait to add one more!

Damn. These ticket prices went from very reasonable to not so much at all.

cool

if you want the gaggle?

Philisgoosin

jeez jeff relax...

A certain Zoner told me Phil hasn't played at Warfield since 2008...!!!...

My last Bay Area Phil and Friends..Dec 31 2005

If there's any interest in a pre-show Zoner happy hour on Tuesday... let's all throw out ideas now...

Around 1:30PM Tuesday I'll check in to a downtown hotel that's about 30 minute walk from venue.

>>>>>is this goose guitar dude enough? is he that good?

goose Lucy?
nah, not really, he's an ok vocalist though.

>>>>((((( Phil is enough )))))

..and Trey's horn section<<<<

One would hope Phil, molo and the venue will b enough for those that make it out, hell it was enough to get g dad to post in this thread and that's kinda special in and of itself.

had this been a nye show to boot, as lance rightfully prayed for in vain, or at least weekend shows it might have even been enough to get me down there as well.

as far as trey's horny backup singers go, they alright.

I like that tromboner I hear tell the phish heads fetishize

"If there's any interest in a pre-show Zoner happy hour on Tuesday... let's all throw out ideas now..."

Toronado. Best beer bar anywhere, and one of the most incognito dead head bars in the universe. 10 minute bus ride back down the hill to the Warfield. Plus it will be Burger Tuesday.

https://www.toronado.com/

Wednesday I will probably pregame across the street from the Warfield at Tu Lan.

Also, anybody coming into town know that Nick's Crispy Tacos on Polk @ Broadway is closing forever next week. The fish tacos done "Nick's Way" are really good.

>>>is this goose guitar dude enough? is he that good?...

goose Lucy? nah, not really<<<

Easy now. In any player who makes their living on jamming/improv, there must be some musical depth to be able to make that living, and that Goose band is a fast-rising star, so let's not be too quick to judge a young guy. Most of the time, improv players don't/can't always show everything they've got, but if they don't have much then we rarely ever know who they are. And we're starting to get to know who this guy is.

Just sayin'.

That being said, I've not been particularly blown away by him, but I've never seen him live and my exposure to him has been severely limited, but an old friend, who's grown sons love Goose and the Goose guy think he's the shit, and my friend was really blown away by him in Tahoe a couple of months ago. Does that mean his playing translates to Grateful Dead music? I'm not sure, but I'm keeping an open mind.

Then again, he's not Barry Sless or from the Hallowed Q, so around here he probably won't be considered good enough no matter how good he is.

>>>I like that tromboner<<<

I was friends with her father and was in a band with him when he was in high school. He's a tromboner as well, who toured with Santana for years, so I have a soft spot for his daughter. Still, as good as they are, it's the horn section that has me a bit ambivalent about these shows. I'm not a fan of horns, especially a horn section in Grateful Dead music. Horn sections by nature are orchestrated and fill up space, battening/flattening things down a bit too much into a predicatble groove for me.

I believe I'm pretty well on record here that I like my Grateful Dead music open, loose, light & flowing.

At the moment I have a ticket for the first show and a friend has an extra for the second night, but I'm dealing with back issues that make a rock show in the big city a bit of a challenge. I am dosing on prednisone at the moment and it seems to be helping, and god knows a Phil show at the Warfield is hard to pass up, so I expect to attend at least one of these.

I'd honestly be more motivated without the horns and with Lebo and/or another top quality TxR local in the mix who knows the music, knows Phil and is damned good (my inner zoner whining about who Phil SHOULD be playing with showing itself) but especially at this late date we go with what we've got and we whoop it up.

Ultimately, as I was texting to my old friend last night, as he was listening to the 3rd set of the closing of Winterland show from 44 years ago and having his mind blown, again, (he & I were both at that one) and who will be at the first Phil show with his Goose fan sons next week..... "Next week is another link from the past to the future. The players come & go, but the jam lives on..."

Far out.

LONG LIVE PHIL LESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mornin' all, Its a Phil Lesh show day!!

i need a high-five emoji!

Custied up for the stream bundle.  Doubt I'll get to watch in real time.  Slammed w/work the last two weeks.

Even if the horn players didn't blow a note, still nice to have three great singers up there.

Don't love Goose guy and I don't loathe Graham.

Secret weapon:  Jason MF Crosby!

Have fun in you're in the room.
