Phil Lineup w/Derek & Jimmy?

Forums:

Were there one or two shows, maybe '99 or' '00?

Asking for a friend (Derek freak; recently discovered Herring).

Please and thank you.

Derek sat in for most of this show (05/27/2000): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50etq3jCkKE

Derek sat in for the 2nd set of this show: https://archive.org/details/2002-04-04.paf.akg483.pujol.9446.sbeok.flacf

I had tickets for this one, but it got canceled because of 9/11.

Derek Trucks was an emergency fill-in on the Fall 99 tour after Steve Kimock bailed. I caught two shows on 11/10 in New Haven and 11/13 at the Meadowlands. I liked that show so much, I called an audible and went to 11/13 at the Brendan Byrne Arena. Both Phil sets were a peak into the future. Dylan was also excellent. First time ever seeing Larry Campbell.

11/13 at the Brendan Byrne Arena>>>

Derek in Jimmy's future spot in the "Q".  That 23+ minute jam to open into the cheesy Youngblood's song Get Together was an odd start to my first Phil & Friends show, to put it nicely.

That Meadowlands show was epic. Phil and Dylan were both on. Have it on CD.

My first re-entry into GD music. Found a site with this show and had a friend download a CD of it for me. That opening totally pulled me back in and then when Phil started the vocals was like the sky opening

Worcester show showed me there was a way back. They did an instrumental 11 I'll never forget

Derek sat in with the Q for a great 2nd set at the Fillmore in Denver April 2002.

"Get Together," written by Chet Powers (Dino Valenti) of Quicksilver, certainly isn't cheesy. The Crusader Rabbit version from 06/10/01 was a real treat.

Do we need a refresher on cheesy?

Get Together is a great opener to ease people into the trip they are about to take, just like Let the Good Times Roll or a Stranger. The slow build up of that jam and finally opening like a flower with the lyrics, and such a beautiful sentiment to plant into the minds of those listening. I love that version and go back to it periodically

Sorry, here is setlist.  This was that Beach to Peach thing.  Derek Trucks Band, Allman Brothers, PLQ.

+w/ Derek Trucks

11 1999 Folks 11 1999 !cool

I saw The ABB line up in 2000 that was Jimmy & Derek w Warren out of the band at the time.. My first Phil & Friends show was 11/2/99 at Mich State Breslin Center was Warren Derek Molo Headband and Phil. WOWZERS that was a good show. Too bad they were an opening act.

As a reminder, Derek Trucks filled in for Kimock's departure starting 10/31/1999 through 11/15/1999.

I was on that tour & so absolutely bummed that Kimock left, especially when Phil played 10/29/1999 with no real lead guitar player. Having Derek show up for 10/31 was awesome. Here's the show:

Amazing show, amazing jams & spaces

This thread caused me to dip back into the Fall 99 Phil, been a while.
I love how open the jams are, everywhere still to go...

Bump for that Halloween 99' vid
