Tickets go on sale this Friday.

holy %^*=!!!

Glad I'm stuck in the Oregon vortex after all!

Phil's really mixing up his Friends this spring.

Mixing it up is great, but the other side of that coin is perhaps, not enough time to develop that band gel--group cohesion, blah, blah, blah.  Its interesting from a chemistry and band development perspective.  Is it then always fresh, or is it missing what happens when you have the same lineup on the field night after night? Most have played with Phil before but like any band, the more you play together, the more it develops so its just interesting how this might ad or detract from the band hittin the notes.  Any thoughts?

Here's one more in Montana:

All my favorite hotels for Cuthbert shows are already sold out.

The reason: University of Oregon's huge commencement is happening on Monday June 13!

What were they thinking when they booked this date?!!

Some if those parents and grandparents will be happy for this news, but doubt if I'll want to deal w/ the traffic jams for that lineup.

Who wants to road-trip to Montana?!

There is a huge track and field event being held in Eugene June 8-11, I suspect that the the reason the hotels are booked. Add commencement and a Phil show and it's going to be a wild week in Eugene!

It's the Oregon Ducks Unlimited State Convention that night in Springfield

Checked AirBnB and its slim pickings too.

Well, there is always Alton Baker Park.

Who is booking for Phil?

He should hire me!

Oregon Zoner road trip to Montana and Bridgeport for the good lineups!

>>>not enough time to develop that band gel<<<

That's a real point, but in this case Stu & Grahame have played with Phil a ton, and obviously Stu knows the music as well as anyone, so I don't think gelling with be an issue with these two bands.

For people who have an issue with Fake Jerry's then Stu isn't the best choice, but he's a really good FJ who knows how to improvise, and in my experience he plays his best with Phil (big surprise, since GD music is conversational and Phil is a brilliant "conversationalist") and Grahame has really improved over the years as a guitarist overall, and especially with the rhythm guitar role in GD music.

These groups won't excite the scorekeepers who react more to the names than the playing, but these guys (and gal) won't get lost, rely on preconceived, repetitive licks or just fumble the ball, which to my ear is what often happens with players who don't know the music or GD style of improv.

saturday market should be crackin'

Yeah, wow, a real shaft for the out-of-towners. Not a decently priced room anywhere. Maybe I'll hit MT instead.

I would look into camping.  I am sure there will be lots of freeks camping in their rigs or in people's backyards.

Finally.

Now if we could just get DNB up here.

Even VRBO homes are almost all rented

Ordered tix. I know, lawn won't sell out for a while, if at all, but might as well get it over with.

Glad I can drive home in an hour, so don't have to scramble for lodging.

Got my tix today too.
