Phil is heading to Boulder in June

Forums:

I hope this hasn't been posted yet. I didn't see it. So, here's the info.

I'm thinking of heading out for it. Sounds like a nice little getaway.

Any recordings of those Hawaii shows? Might be a good barometer.

meh.

the band is missing a ferocious and psychedelic lead guitar, as well as a drummer who can push the band.

graham shouldn't sing. dude lacks soul.

Phil is all I really care about. Just realized I have tix for King Crimson on the 24th.

Sweet. It's been a loooong time since Phil has brought one of his bands to Colorado.

Actually, I think the 2011 shoes were the last time I saw you, Jen. Too long. Hope to catch up at these!

Wow! I didn't realize it had been that long Mark. I guess it has though. Yes, hopefully we can catch up. I'd love to see pics of the baby too. :)

As Ned said,,,, I really only care about Phil and it's a quick hop over to see him.

Yeah the family band is a real snoozer imho

too bad Phil doesn't at least put together a decent band for when he plays outside of txr, and keep the family band for the patio shows back home.

Meh, CT  My expectations aren't particularly lofty. I'm content to hear Phil drop a few bombs and beam from the stage.I look forward to catching up with some friends too.

I believe the Fox has Mountain Sun brews on tap too, which is nice.

I hope that when I die I can say that I never paid a cent to see Ross James play music.

So Colorado is getting exactly the kind of legendary Phil show it deserves.

^^^^nice.

Maybe Ted from Shakedown can sit in.

As much as I'd like to see Phil, probably won't be able to pull this off ... already making two trips to the front range for Trey @ Red Rocks then D&C.

Doesn't help matters that it's at the Fox.

I hope that when I die I can say that I never paid a cent to see Ross James play music.<<<

I'm sure u will b able to reach that goal...

Will people really pay $75 to see this band in Colorado?

Tickets

Slacker you got any good Ross James pics to post?

should be a flat $20, with fees.

I might go to these shows, it could be a really good time.

dave alvin charges $20....

jim lauderdale...

oh, never mind...

But wait, Turtle, those are real artists compared to MFRJ....oh, I get it.

===================================================

Zooey people payed $100 for SCI for fox 25 anniversary. Fox only hold 600+. Rumor was SCI sold half to their family and friends...maybe same thing this time around. Might be a hard ticket to get! .will be oversold. Mostly with Dead and CO playing Folsom june 9 and 10.

====================================================

My home town venue...not a big fan of family band though it is Phil.

Same dates as WSP at RR. Many CO tapers bought tics for that...I did not buy WSP RR tics this go around.

Will have to go at least one if not more of these I think..

Unfortunately this is the weekend of my son's graduation.  Now I need a different excuse to go to CO.

I would love to hear Phil live but for me, $75+fees is a lot to pay for a band I wouldn't see without Phil. I mean, I bought String Cheese at Red Rocks for 33,34 and $35 for their summer run. The Fox can get pretty crowded and it's a bar. I'm not that stoked. :(

The last show I saw at the Fox was David Nelson. $20.

Who knows...maybe Phil has something else up his sleeve...

I hear ya! $75+ fees is very high. I rarely pay that for a show these days. I'm a $20 show girl. Honestly, there is so much good music passing through these days and it's rare to spend over $30 for a show. Here and there and for something special, like Los Lobos in a 300 person room for $65.

$75 is spendy, for sure.

Probably only in for one at that price; but it is Phil, and he doesn't tour, so...

I mean... the guy is 77. Do people really think he has some kinda tricks up his sleeve? Dudes probably thinking about a nap half the time.

His new slogan should be "It's Still Phil".

He do well with that.

^it's still phil, lol.

Just a thought....Panic has a 5pm start on Sunday, which could potentially lead to a 2nd set with Phil for Jimmy. Maybe not.

Presale happening now.

Let me know if it works for you.

A buddy of mine in Denver missed out and says the tickets are going for 2 - 3 face on the secondary markets, which is past his price point.   He is bumming even though it is the family band.

What's the word on the chances of finding decently priced tix?

Wow - $75 for TFB & it SELLS OUT?  And I thought East Coaster Cap Th Shoe-Goers were Custy's

Now, with all due respect to Phil (and Bobby) for bringing us 50+ years of music, but it seems recently that, either Dementia is finally seeping in, or they're listening to their Lickspittle's butt kissing a little too much - case in point:  That Lockn' headlining "TFB plays Terrapin Station album w/Bobby" - I mean, after they came up with this concept, w/RMFJ um, "holding down" lead guitar, did Phil, Bob, & Shappy share Enthusiastic Fist Bumps All Around then Pats On the Back:  "Way to Think Up a GREAT Concept the Custy's Will Lap Up like the Trained Seals That They Are"

Im not surprised it sold right out. It's Colorado. The Fox has a great sound system.

I think it's cool that he's helping to launch G Lesh and Friends. I just can't prioritize the expense.

I hope they crush it. Fun will be had.

Peace.

Saw the TFB twice on a boat ride around NYC.  If I recall correctly it was about $40 for the ticket.  The first time they had Jon Graboff on pedal steal, and he was great.  Both times we had a wonderful time.  Cruising the Hudson and grooving to songs we knew so well.  Listening back and hearing this band playing recent shows, well I don't think I would pay $20 to see them play.  Guitars and vocals are sub par at best.

lol sideshow.

phil literally put together the worst, most amateur band he's been in...ever...?....and people eat it up.

get it while you can, graham and ross, this shit ain't gonna last.

I ended up with 2 tickets for Saturday.  A friend asked me if I wanted her to try to get since she was getting 2.  I thought what the hell, you'll never get through on ticketfly.  But she did.

Low expectations for great music but it's probably my last chance to see Phil, especially in an intimate venue.  I'm taking my 18 year old who has discovered how great GD music is over the past year. He's abandoned rap and crap for GD, ABB and classic rock.  It will probably be his only chance to see Phil

Its getting serious, Phil & TFB have their own site as well:  https://www.terrapinfamilyband.com/

I couldn't make it all the way through the Shakedown they have posted.

It's been obvious for a while now that Phil and Jill are doubling down on the Family Band thing in defiance of the critics, and they are again correct that the tickets will still sell anyway, because as folks say, "It's still Phil." Carry on.

Not in.

Saw the website as well couldn't make it all the way through any of the tunes posted.  Sultans of Swing without the signature guitar riffs and with RJ singing sounds god awful.  Oh well.

That's Awesome, Andy.

TFB is the Diametric opposite of Moonalice:

TFB = Great bandleader, Terrible backup band

Moonalice = Terrible band leader, Great backup band

Same "Less than Meh" results in both cases . . .
