Hawaii tix on sale Friday 8/4

I was just about to post that photo - you're on it, Zooey!

Is this the first time that the Family Band has been billed as PLF?

Is Jason Crosby a member of the Family Band or does he take it outside that?

"Is this the first time that the Family Band has been billed as PLF?"

My first thought as well.  Not sure that I agree with this labeling.

Meh

Phil can call this band Steve if he wants.

>>>Is Jason Crosby a member of the Family Band or does he take it outside that?

im not as up to snuff on the happenings at TXR as other folks might be, but afaik crosby has ususally been a special guest with the family band, although he may have been in it without any special guest billing a few times. lots of shows under other names with the same general lineup.

some family band type lineups have gotten billed as PLF, but never one this close to the straight up family band. usually i have seen PLF lineups with most/all of the family band and a bigger name guest or two that is not a typical TXR regular. i dont recall ever seeing family band + one usual TXR regular as PLF before.

If they bill it as "Supah Shugga Lipz"  w/ Phil Lesh they will still sell as many tixx.  It's just a Lark,  really. Winter vacation on Maui and catch a show or two.

I think it's Nice that Phil can call any other musicians  "Friends" if he feels like it.

They are Phils friends, nothing wrong here, at least you know the lineup..

This is also a NYE show...some people might look at this as a NYE fun trip.

I would also expect bigger name guests for a Phil and Friends billing.

Bigger names might have their own New Years runs to play.

Now I need for DNB or LOS to announce for early January to make it worth the flight!

What are those odds?

I agree, I wish the PLF lineup would feature other friends, like Molo and Sless.

They  did well enough last year to do it again this year....

awful.

The most accurate description would be Graham Lesh & Friends, featuring Phil Lesh.

Phil could organize some unique & ground-breaking Hawaii lineup if he felt like it.  The current  Family-PLF-Band is comfortable enough for a Chill Winter break,  few rounds of Golf,  bit of Snorkeling.

I bet he, Band and the audience will enjoy their vacation and watch a few Whales.  Certainly if I lived near Seattle,  PDX or SFO I might find a cheap plane ticket and check it out,  but I would prefer DNB shows.

We can all hope for some of that in Winter.

Maybe Phil's friends are sick of his songs.

Slacker,

If Phil Lesh's management company offered you a plane ticket, hotel room and $300 to play Marimba for the Maui tour,  would you go ??

I would certainly do it.  However,  I would take Marimba  lessons first.

Maybe Phil is sick of us and doesn't care what we think.

No, Stu. I don't do Islands outside of Disneyland.

Now thats a great idea! Play Disneyland, Phil!

Phil can call this band Steve if he wants.<<<

Or, "Bobby"

(whistles non-chalantly)

Foghorn nailed it.

Crosby is an official member of the Family Band, and this is indeed that lineup, so it is correct that this is the TFB under the P&F moniker.

Maybe Phil just wants to take his Family on a nice working vacation for the holidays and then write off the cost as a business expense.

I love Phil but this seems like a nice family vacation paid for by his phans.  Something feels wrong about it. "Hey phreaks, come see my family band play Switzerland/Fiji/Paris" But its his show, i cant afford it even if the band did interest me...but have fun if you do go!

Maybe Billly will sit in

>>>>nice family vacation paid for by his phans.

How are artists supposed to get paid?

by cleaning pools? you ask a lot of redundant and silly questions that you think make you look smart. Did you ever notice?

Do you live in Hawaii? Is it stinky?

These run of shows are being played in the peak season.

Flight, hotel, car rental would cost small fortune.

Phill should of never given up the NYE shows at the SF Bill Graham .

Does anyone live in Hawaii?

Phil ain't dumb.

I thought the TFB Boulder shows were pretty hot, and think Grahame has really upped his playing in the last few years.

Like Phil, I don't care what you thinkcheeky

JRAD we need you now more than ever

Did the show last year - delayed honeymoon, met friends, never did Hawaii, blah-blah-blah...why not???

Saw them NYE in Honolulu - the venue was in an area with some cool bars and The Hawaii Theatre is a really cool place - struck me like a Tower Theatre in set-up and architecture - sound good from up top, not great

The place did not appear even half packed and seemed mostly filled with locals (of course), some clearly not DeadHeads - had as lot of room to move wihich was awesome

It was a blast seeing Phil for the first time on a New Years run since PLF 2005 (yes, The Ryan Adams year)

The setlist was nice and the playing was really good, at times terrific and I went with no defined expectation (had never seen much of the Phamily Band) except to have a blast - they were tight and individually played well (although tough to be happy with the drumming when my standard has been Molo or Russo)

Tough sell for me to do it again from Philly given the cost and effort but would recommend it to those on the West Coast - I mean, it is Phil...

>>>>>Does anyone live in Hawaii?

Konakid

The most heads live on the da big island

My guess is that Billy won't show up.

Custie fest

(((((Roscoe)))))

I'd do this in a heartbeat

> My guess is that Billy won't show up.<

Billy will be playing with DeadCo that night

> My guess is that Billy won't show up.<

Still rather go to Phil in Hawaii than Dead and Co in LA...
