Phil Dropping Some Bass in OKC

Love ths show. Raw energy.

Strongly believe that if Jerry's voice was in better shape in '85 that the year would be super highly regarded; because his playing is magnificent.

I saw close to 40 shows in 1985. Right up there with 82-84 on the pure fun scale on tour.

I enjoy 1985.
What was going on in the summer of 1985?
Singing in the rain, hanging from the balcony, and then red rocks, Chula Vista…

3/31/85 Portland ME is third best show I saw, and is #1 for the best straight up show without extras like special guests or breakouts.

And OKC was one of the strangest places I saw a show but not this one.

I was at this show. Good times. Hot AF if I recall. 100+ degrees. Cool little venue. I believe we bought tickets at a local ticketbasterd day of show. Drove all night afterwards to catch the show at the KC Starlight the next night. That was a good show.

Enjoying 9/2/85 this morning with my coffee   yes

Mrs. LCL went to these shows. Summer '85 was clearly special. Obviously Red Rocks and Starlight are the standouts, but

all of the shows are top notch.

A few years after this, a friend who was taping there said it was the only time he was in the taping section where there was grass visible

between tapers. Pretty uncrowded from his perspective.

And how's Mrs. LCL doing? And you?

Hi Judit! We are doing well thank you, sweltering at the beach today; Unusually hot and humid, probably for the next few days.

She is progressing along slowly, but at least going forward, not back.

Chronic pain isn't helping the situation, but she's powering through.

5 more weeks of in-home physical therapy have been approved so that will help.

I'm going to try to find the photos I have of the GD at the Zoo Amp. in 1981.

They're here somewhere!

My sister and brother in law are out in Bolinas and I would take that over our 100˚+ today. It's most likely breezy where you are.

I'm glad Mrs. LCL is progressing at whatever pace. Chronic pain sucks. She sounds like a strong person, but pain wears on anyone. PT can really help and it's great that will continue.

Good wishes to you both.

Keep on chooglin' LCL's. Remember, these are the days.

And 1985 was a weird Grateful Dead year for me. The band was continuing down a path/approach I didn't care for nearly as much as the one I'd caught the tail end of, but I did see a few damn good shows in '85.

And yet it was also the year I first thought, "This thing is changing, and damn, I think Jerry's dying."

Looking back I understand my opinion at the time, but I'd love to relive those shows.

I think we often over-think things in the moment.

Anyway, this is a good show.

He was.
