Poor Jimmy. Such a talented guy, always just playing hired gun to the highest bidder. Sure, he sounds great in Panic (if you're into Panic), but he never (IMO) really got the emotional groove of the rest of the band and has always sounded to me like the guy who's playing like he's trying to fit in. The Q was a perfect fit for him, he could really shine there. The Family Band....ouch. Poor Jimmy...
Thom we don’t often agree but you hit the nail on the head. I love to hear Jimmy w/Phil but unless I’m comped I’m out. And it’s too bad because we start our retirement travels in December with two months in Hawaii and then to more warm weather for the rest of the winter. Doubtful I’ll see Phil again till the late spring if he plays something other than the family band. It’s sad actually, because for me it was Phil who carried the torch for a long time after Jerry. Especially with The Q. And while I respect his right to do what he wants to at this stage of the game, I sure do wish he played with better musicians. Sure do hope “one more time from start to end I get to take that ride again” before “He’s Gone”
I think Phil still carries the torch and I still travel distance to see him. Portland, Red Rocks, and Rochester so far this year. TFB has good shows and getting better over time. I don’t care for RMFJ, Anything Phil does with Jimmy Herring should be real good but I admit I am getting tired of Twiddle dude.
I went to Philly/Phil...even tho I had fun and saw some long time wonderful zoners of past, it was just painful at times ! Not to mention Phil having tech difficulties and the vocals of that bearded dude....OMG !!!
I can not bear to see Jimmy with this band, just can't imagine. Saving my $$ for a hopefully spring Panic and Mule NYE this year.
I really long for the days of PLF as some describe above...but fear it is never gonna happen :(
I have a lot of cool local music I have discovered in the Pines of South Jersey, this band is outta control good and on their way ....UP :)
in the past 2 years or so ive been forced to see three phish shows and unfortunately i plan to see more next time they come to the bay area. that says it all. :(
Jimmy is good but not enough to get me up there again, if they dropped the ticket price to a fair amount that would help. If it was closer i'd consider going. Also most of the patrons at the cap are smoking nasty shitty dirt weed that smells terrible, how can this happen in this day and age, The Phil show i saw in DC was totally different with no dirt whatsoever and only sweet smelling smells. I don't smoke anymore but i know the difference between bad and good.
The few that were doing it were very stealthy about it and equally of the poorest quality.
So are you guaranteeing if i give it another try that i won't be stunk out by crappy dirt week? Even if you lied and said yes that would at least be an encouraging sign.
Seeing J Rad down here in a few weeks, should be a good time.
Almost a month since any one has posted in our Phearless leader's Cap run thread. Karl Denson is now guest on Thursday with Jimmy.
I'll only be there on Friday. Say what you want; I'm looking forward to it.
btw, No one can prove that I bumped this thread to mention I have a single Thursday 11/1/18 discounted Loge Right Center ticket for sale in the Ticket Board & Rides folder.
Really looking forward to seeing our Man and Phearless leader Phil on Thursday & Friday! Pumped to see him rip with Jimmy again!! Denson should certainly add some spice on Thursday. Gonna take that ride again....!!

Watch TFB with Marcus King on Scarlet/Fire.
King is clearly the best soloist on that stage.
I used to get excited for Phil @The Capitol.
Not anymore.
