Phil and Jimmy Herring

Forums:

Nov 1st and 2nd at the cap w the family bland..

Halloween w twiddle and the bland..

10/31 Phiddle featuring Phil Lesh and Twiddle

Still not paying money to see a band that has Ross James as a member.

Jimmy is my favorite PLF guitarist.  To bad his foils are going to be MFRJ and Beardy McminiLesh

Poor Jimmy. Such a talented guy, always just playing hired gun to the highest bidder. Sure, he sounds great in Panic (if you're into Panic), but he never (IMO) really got the emotional groove of the rest of the band and has always sounded to me like the guy who's playing like he's trying to fit in. The Q was a perfect fit for him, he could really shine there. The Family Band....ouch. Poor Jimmy...

Watch TFB with Marcus King on Scarlet/Fire.

King is clearly the best soloist on that stage.

I used to get excited for Phil @The Capitol.

Not anymore.

He sat in with the family band in Colorado a while back, he definitely elevated the product

i guess that's what's coming for the outlaw fest...

phil knows the band sucks.

>>i guess that's what's coming for the outlaw fest...

No Jimmy at Hollywood Bowl, Panic is in Milwaukee that night

Sounds like Cris Jacobs and Jason Crosby and the Family Band and hopefully some collaboration with the other artists on the bill

Sigh.

Every time I agree with Thom(not very often) it blows my mind.

 Bland

Boring, blah. Belch. It was an amazing run.  And phil is a nice man and a bass god

Thom we don’t often agree but you hit the nail on the head. I love to hear Jimmy w/Phil but unless I’m comped I’m out. And it’s too bad because we start our retirement travels in December with two months in Hawaii and then to more warm weather for the rest of the winter. Doubtful I’ll see Phil again till the late spring if he plays something other than the family band. It’s sad actually, because for me it was Phil who carried the torch for a long time after Jerry. Especially with The Q.  And while I respect his right to do what he wants to at this stage of the game, I sure do wish he played with better musicians. Sure do hope  “one more time from start to end I get to take that ride again” before “He’s Gone”

i guess that's what's coming for the outlaw fest... <<< I Hope Not T !

family bland = NO

I think Phil still carries the torch and I still travel distance to see him.  Portland, Red Rocks, and Rochester so far this year.  TFB has good shows and getting better over time.  I don’t care for RMFJ,  Anything Phil does with Jimmy Herring should be real good but I admit I am getting tired of Twiddle dude.

Ya lost me a while ago, Phil.

and this isnt helping.

I wish these shows were billed as “after dark” shows in Las Vegas, “Vegoose” style.

Just a big no-no ...;(

I went to Philly/Phil...even tho I had fun and saw some long time wonderful zoners of past, it was just painful at times !  Not to mention Phil having tech difficulties and the vocals of that bearded dude....OMG !!!

I can not bear to see Jimmy with this band, just can't imagine. Saving my $$ for a hopefully spring Panic and Mule NYE this year.

I really long for the days of PLF as some describe above...but fear it is never gonna happen :(

I have a lot of cool local music I have discovered in the Pines of South Jersey, this band is outta control good and on their way ....UP  :)

Great kids too, going to see them this friday at Filmore with Knower !!

in the past 2 years or so ive been forced to see three phish shows and unfortunately i plan to see more next time they come to the bay area. that says it all. :(

It's like ratdog board around here anymore.

Made this for the occasion 2ixdfo.jpg

Lol

Jimmy is good but not enough to get me up there again, if they dropped the ticket price to a fair amount that would help. If it was closer i'd consider going. Also most of the patrons at the cap are smoking nasty shitty dirt weed that smells terrible, how can this happen in this day and age, The Phil show i saw in DC was totally different with no dirt whatsoever and only sweet smelling smells. I don't smoke anymore but i know the difference between bad and good.

^^^

Peeps don't puff inside the Cap...u must b thinking of the smoking section...where anything goes...

Been to numerous Cap shows and always sat in the balcony, smoking was going on at every one.

^^^^

Must of been in the beginning

..cause the last few years they have been all over it.. politely asking to go outside the first time and the boot the second time...

It has been a few years. Not sure which was my last show, not family band though. maybe JK and Nikki?

The few that were doing it were very stealthy about it and equally of the poorest quality.

So are you guaranteeing if i give it another try that i won't be stunk out by crappy dirt week? Even if you lied and said yes that would at least be an encouraging sign.

Seeing J Rad down here in a few weeks, should be a good time.

I feel ya daylight,

there’s a hole in my bucket

"I used to get excited for Phil @The Capitol.

Not anymore."

And my wallet is thanking me for it.

Love the man and all of the memories that he has provided.  Glad he enjoys playing with his son, but it just isn't worth the time and effort.

Damn Thom, that’s twice in one week that I totally agree with you. WTF Is going on?

Almost a month since any one has posted in our Phearless leader's Cap run thread.  Karl Denson is now guest on Thursday with Jimmy.

I'll only be there on Friday.  Say what you want; I'm looking forward to it.

btw, No one can prove that I bumped this thread to mention I have a single Thursday 11/1/18 discounted Loge Right Center ticket for sale in the Ticket Board & Rides folder.

Really looking forward to seeing our Man and Phearless leader Phil on Thursday & Friday! Pumped to see him rip with Jimmy again!!  Denson should certainly add some spice on Thursday.  Gonna take that ride again....!!

i'm tempted to go on Thursday. The addition of KD makes this much more appealing to me. I'd rather hear him sing West L.A. Fadeaway than Grahame.

Karl should bring along his friend Keith Richards.  They could do "The Last Time", "All Over Now" and "Happy".
