I was at this show. We had no view so we hung in beer garden all show rocking out on shrooms. It was 98 degrees and humid as all hell. Hottest day in SF for me.

I was there, hanging in the back laughing at all the people who were Pearl Jam fans walking out pissed.

Overall it was kind of a strange day, but Neil rocking in the park was OK with me.

i was there pissed as a mofo.. just roaming around.... all pissed

Glorious fucking day.

Ed came down with food poisoning and only played on two tunes, hence the fans attitude change..Fast forward two months and we also had an attitude change...

This was a great day. And yes, hot hot hot.

I mostly can't stand Pearl Jam but this was pretty cool. I remember the crowd thinning out the longer Neil stayed on stage slaying it. Can't say I was impressed with the Peal Jam fan base either. I consider them to be a slightly more dignified version of Bush fans.

I went to GG Park that day, but didn't wanna pay to get in. That was the first time they tried to charge $ to get into GG Park. I played Frisbee and listened from outside the fence. Neil & PJ killed it !!!

It's understandable why people were pissed. Almost none of those people cared a whit about Neil Young and most thought they were going to get screwed on their ticket.

It was still funny for those of us who were stoked to get a big Neil Young show. I clearly remember one guy hanging around a long time repeating FUCK that pussy EDDIE VEDDER and FUCK NEIL YOUNG! Who gives a SHIT about that old guy?!?

That was pretty funny.

I can't remember exactly how the ticket refund thing went. I know people could get refunds, and PJ played a makeup show at Spartan Stadium in San Jose; could people get the refund AND go to the SJ show, or was it either/or?

I didn't make this show even though I was living in the Bay Area. Was Neil announced all along or was he a surprise guest?

I personally have had a hard a hard time processing fee based shows in GGP after only knowing incredible free ones (I missed the 60's & 70's but attended many in the 80's & beyond. I do realize there is a cost to putting on free shows. Not sure how the parameters changed. IMHO there should be no for profit shows allowed. I know it brings a boatload of $ to the city coffers and local business. I'm against it on principal. I'm not down with cutting off public access in the name of profit. If it means fans miss out on a concert experience, do be it. I know I'm missing some complicated dynamics, namely the times they are a-changing.

Actually Ed played 7 songs...

Neil played...

If Eddie had played more than 7 songs some Pear Jam fans would have died that day from heat stroke. Went to San Jose show they killed it. Only had to pay the ticketbastard processing fee as a Ten Club member everything was free after that.
