Made a last minute decision Friday night 2/16 to see Shelby Lynne & Allison Moorer at the Westhampton Beach Music Performing Arts Center and the show was really good.

I know many of you through out the US are very familiar with these Country Grammy award winning sisters.  Steve Earl told us at show this past summer that he was married to Allison and I read up on her but never heard her music. Just went to show and was blown away by their musical gift as singers and musicians.

Allison Moore came out all Pillow Faced, but I totally fell in love with her. Shelby Lynne had her game face on, but was stunningly beautiful in every way.

The show was going all country fine and dandy and the changed gears and rocked out a cool version of Nirvana's Lithium.

I made a short 3 song video of the show:

South of the border reporting in. Do donkey shows count?

^

Cracks me up. I think so.

Theatrical Plays as well.

We watched 3 Billboards Outside Ebbets, Mo.  Great movie.

Thanks Schwa. I look forward to checking it out.

What is pillow faced?

Looking tired and just awoken.

I saw songwriting legend JD Souther last night at the Boulton Center. Great evening.

I've always been a fan of the great lyrists/songwriters of our time. Barlow, Robert Hunter, Bernie Taupin, Dylan and JD Souther. What makes these guys tick?

With the passing John Barlow, it made me not want to minimize the significance of seeing JD for the first time. Studying up on his repertoire and understanding his story itself was fun.

The show started late. JD left after rehearsal for nice dinner and got hung up. He made it up to us. The show started at 8:30 and ended around 11pm, with two sets.

I was able to meet JD after the show. Shake his hand and to say "Thanks". He's a gentleman.

I taped a lot of the show. The video gets better as it moves on..

I met up with Roshambo Saturday in NYC to catch Poi Dog Pondering. Great time and good to see you!

A lively band that had folks abandoning their elbows on the tables and opting for toe tapping and butt shaking!

Bluelight....I'm also a longtime JD Souther fan..

I saw DSO on Saturday night. My wife had me right on the rail with a lot of friends. The band performed a 1977 show. DSO is so damn good at what they do....again and more than ever, I was very impressed with their delivery. They really had the era being performed down and the crowd had a blast.

Really Shakey? That's saying something. Thanks.

I want to see DSO too. 1977 would work.

LOVE Poi Dog Pondering.

Sunday evening, I saw John Oates at the Ram's Head On Stage in Annapolis.   He mostly played material  from his new album, "Arkansas".  The album features a lot of songs from the Deep  South from the 1930s plus two great original songs.   He also played a nice reggae version on "Maneater", which is how he originally intended the song to be played.   Great show!

Very cool. I think Oates is great.  I'd see him.

Had a blast at DSO at the Warfield in SF.

First night was a great original set filled with jam-tastic ness.

Second night was a gem from 6/4/77 Inglewood Forum.

Enjoy sum o my vids:

Awesome work Trebs. I see that DSO's comfort zone is 1977.

Cool Playing in the Band!

I want to see DSO.

(I see you good time at Phil's place last night too)

I took my father to see Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy at the newly renovated landmark Patchouge Theatre last night.

Dad was blown away and I thought it was fantastic. 2 sets an intermission and 3 encores of Jazz / Swing.

I taped most of the show and posted it on YouTube. (The video gets tighter as it plays on)

I mentioned on another thread that I was looking forward to seeing Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing works of Duke Ellington at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The show was simply spectacular and the concert hall was just amazing!  At the beginning of the show, he said that they would swing with intensity and purpose.  He wasn't kidding.  A few photos to share......

Very cool Spac. First, that show sounded amazing when you wrote about planning to go to it

Love the photographs so much.

This is the Chandelier from the Patchouge Theatre last night. Was built in 1927.

Seeing Bobby and Phil at Radio City brought back so many memories from the shows there in 1980.

I thought it was a magical night for sure.

But as a landmark restored theater I actually like the Patchouge Theatre more, and want to see Arlo & Robert Cray there this season.

I took this photo of Radio City Last Night

Saw Kyle Hollingsworth Band on Saturday at the Boulder Theater. Great venue. Great concert. It was his 50th birthday and for $20 we got Hot Buttered Rum opener and jam with khb. KHB included Michael Kang, Jennifer Hartwick and Motet Horns.

And Kyle, Kang, Nershi and Mosley played SCI with the khb drummer.

And there was cake.

Have fun man ^

I saw my favorite Jorma show last night at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead.  Really fun night.  Jorma was on top of his game

The theater was built in 1932. Nice place.

and that:

Jorma Kaukonen 3/9 at the Suffolk Theater solo was the best single Jorma show I had seen and posted about that right afterwards. See the man, while you can.

This past week I went to 4 concerts, three of which had bands playing & had the theater doors open. Which is a pretty good ratio, that I am working on. No matter how bad my week is going -STOP- and look at the concert ticket date, before driving all the way there. lol

3/15 - Saw the best concert of my life, with the Dixie Dregs at the Paramount in Huntington. First, I want to thank Dixie Dregs Bass player - Andy West for letting me shoot the video of the show up at YouTube now. Steve Morse, who is such a wonderful & warm human being.  Violinist, physician - Alan Sloan for the being there and sharing how all of this has made a full-circle. To Rod Morgenstein - the best drummer I have ever seen. To Rod's family for being there. The Dixie Dregs are a family affair, who's affinity towards their fans is expressed in some of the most mesmerizing music made in the Universe.

3/16 - Tab Beniot - Caught him and his friends from Louisiana in one of the best nights of my life. Chilling blues guitar and a bunch of fun stories made this night very special. Like to thank the Good Lord for giving me the strength to be there & the kindness all the folks around me.

3/17 - Larry Kirwan from Black 47. A most prolific individual, who's a walking encyclopedia of the history of Ireland and the Irish Americans who migrated here in the early turn of the last century.

A Celtic musical explosion. Great new version of David Bowie's Heroes called Heroes / Belfast performed for the first time and will be formally released this week.

Next up, Robin Trower this Sunday.
