I am sorry for your flooding troubles. Hope you didn't injure yourself (beyond the electrocution). Maybe you should check the sink drain, or not put the stopper in ?
Definitely turn the breaker "off" before walking into a flooded room with electric appliances or live outlets.

All building codes requires emergency overflow outlets on all sinks/bathtubs with capacity of 150% of faucet flow - not sure how this could have even happened . . . altho I just looked @ my dual kitchen sink & it has no separate overflow outlet, but the separation between the 2 sinks is sunk below the rim of the sink so maybe there's an exception for dual drain sinks . . .

I returned from my vacation
I returned from my vacation to Maui DNB tour a few years back to discover some flooding on my ground floor due to burst pipes. They were old, anyway.
It took a while to mop up, but the kitchen has gorgeous Yellow Pine boards for flooring. After mopping up, they were really clean and smelled Super-Piney.
Water flowed through the spaces between boards into the cellar below, which is dirt floor. But they swelled up and made water collect.
Being one to make Lemons out of Lemonade, I planed the lovely vintage Pine floorboards to get them more flat, like a Floor.
I was liek, a Pirate swabbing the decks, but with a ship anchored in Jerseyland.

It Was all because i sealed the overflow that Led to Flooding
i had Duck tape over it to keep cockroaches Out ! - a couple years ago i had a small problem with them and forgot to remove the Duct tape ITS GONE NOW - i wont have this Problem ever again
Everything is Fine now just alot of Wet stuff that i had to Wash and Dry and NO i did not Hurt myself

It's too rural. If the Roaches managed to arrive, the Native Spiders would take them out. They are Big & nasty.
Never seen a single Roach out here in the Sticks.
