Steve Hillage Madison Square Garden (1977)

This is the opening act of the first concert I ever went to. Steve Hillage opened for ELO on 2/11/1977. (My sister was going to F.I.T. in NYC and took me to my first few concerts)

Stoned out on black hash. We were pretty much in the last rows. Which was fine as ELO's lasers omitted vibrant colors form a far.

I did not know this set was officially released until a month ago and got it a few weeks ago, and I am opening it now with open ears and an open mind.

The Legendary Pink Dots - Ancient Daze (2006 comp) - Very mellow, almost early Kraftwerk sounding, with Edward K's vocals, of course.  Well, maybe not that Kraftwerk-like, I suppose, but lots of synth.

Kult - Salon Recreativo (2001) - This may be my favorite Polish rock-punk-ska band, thought I admittedly don't know anything about Polish Rock.

I see that it's on youtube, as well:

"25 Years of Slanted and Enchanted
With Host DJ Baconfat
Friday, 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Very few bands wasted their style as well as the elegant bachelors in Pavement did, and their debut full-length album is where the legend grew legs and stomped all over the college-rock landscape. Tune in for two hours with the epochal album that made the brass at Matador Records very, very rich - including b-sides, live cuts, outtakes, and tracks which influenced the band (some of which are straight from the WTJU vaults). hey!     ateix!

good to see you in the black again.

Hey Ateix,

I'm enjoying that Joshua Abrams link.  Feeling the repetitive rhythms and Berlin Krautrock sound.  Good stuff

Last night, I was enjoying my late night drive with Ottmar Liebert - In the Arms of Love: Lullabies 4 Children and Adults (2002) - maybe too mellow for my situation at the time, but quite nice sounding.

Earlier at work, I was listening to that facebook video of the Howard Wales-Terry Haggerty-Kevin Hayes Trio from last night's Sweetwater show.  Not polished, to say the least, but some good improv, IMHO:

Black 47, An Irish-American Odyssey

With Host Dave Donahue

Friday, 11:00pm - 1:00am

“It’s a little bit of hell, and a whole lot of heaven, that’s the story so far of Black 47.” From Wexford to the Bronx to the Top the the Rock, Black 47 never wavered from their commitment that the party could be political. Part punk, part poet, leader Larry Kirwan and his merry band of musical mavericks blended traditional Irish tunes with sounds drawn from the worldwide diaspora of the emigrant experience. With guitars. They made you think, they made you dance, they could tear your heart out and hand it right back to you. Pull a dirty pint, and check out Black 47, An Irish-American Odyssey.

Don from Radio Wowsville surveys the enigmatic and often-misunderstood solo career of Paul McCartney, taking in the killer hits with Wings ("Jet," "Junior's Farm") as well as the off-kilter experiments like Suzy and the Red Stripes, "McCartney II" and the Fireman. It's three hours of prime, rare, singalong Macca, and you know that can't be bad

Just got home from Moon Duo with support from Jackie Lynn. Ears ringing. Serious guitar music.

Just got home from Gov't Mule with Eric Krasno Band opening. Ears ringing. That was also some serious guitar music! Warren brings the goods. Hadn't seen him in a few years and never seen Gov't Mule before.
