Over Worked, & Under Appreciated

Forums:

I wrote this blues tune this morning called "Over Worked, & Under Appreciated".

(For you musicians out there, it's a blues shuffle in the key of "A", with a A7, D minor, G7, A7 bridge. That can also be picked out Rag Time like)

Add verses like an internet folks song, if you like.

Over Worked, & Under Appreciated

I woke this morning and while flipping through the news.

There was long list of the blues, that I had too.

I’m not a rich man, I am what I am.

That’s why I wouldn't be here at 4 am

Don’t know where to begin, and it’s a bit complicated.

The results, of being over worked and Under Appreciated.

I’ll fill your class, fill it to the brim.

So, come on pretty mama, just let me in.

Things didn’t look any better as we headed towards noon.

I decided to work through lunch and the pending doom.

You can’t fire me, because I just up & quit.

I’ll clean up my desk and steel your paper clips

Don’t know where to begin, it’s a bit complicated.

The results of being over worked and Under Appreciated.

Had very type of job under the sun.  Met the greatest minds, on the run.

The days were long and I had to shave twice.

There was no rest, just to pay the price.

Of being Over Worked & Under Appreciated!

The darkness of night overcame the day -

And That last bit of energy, just gave away.

Set the alarm again for one round.

For when profits and losses meet the dirty ground

The bridge is:

A7 >  A6 > D Minor > G7 > A Flat 7 > A7

Verses are Blues Shuffle - A7 / A6  - D7  - A7 - E etc.

This is off the top of my head, it's 7am there is no guitar in sight...

I need to learn how to play a blues shuffle.
Great idea, Bluelight. I hope people contribute.

Sorry I'm not. Maybe later.

I hope you're writing this while on the clock.

I sent it to Jorma's wife Vanessa this morning.

Enjoy your canned Chili, PJ

Have a Happy Holiday Bluelight, I was messing around with your chords today, it is keeping me busy on a much needed rainy morning.

Not sure if you ever heard of Steve Goodman, He was taken way to early. I was thinking of a song he wrote many years ago called Unemployed

When I got up this morning I walked down to the plant
I wanted to go to work but they said you can't
And when I asked the boss why I got canned
He said somethin' 'bout the laws of supply and demand
Well that's the kind of thing
That gets a man annoyed
When the wolf is knocking
And you're unemployed

And I filled out those forms they had in personnel
There's twenty men applying for every job to fill
Some boys in line are just bums like me
And some of them got sheepskins and PhD's
It's a sorry situation that you can't avoid
When you're over educated and unemployed

I don't want to be told how long I have to wait
And I don't want to be no number in no jobless rate
Don't want no welfare from no welfare state
I just want to put the groceries on my baby's plate

When I die then I'll get my just reward
When the devil makes me chairman of the board
Whenever they had hard times in this land before
Then they said the way you stop it is to start a war
Well I don't want to hear none of that from no politicians no more
Or next election day they'll be unemployed

just for the record he did write City of New Orleans, Arlo just made it a hit. Jimmy Buffet, David Bromberg and a lot of others have recorded his songs.

Hi Bart! Happy Holidays.

That is great song. Thanks for the lyrics/links

John Prine kind of came to mind, so with that you get Steve. He was a very cool man from what I ahave read.

I hope I get the chance to play some Bromberg records later on tonight.

This is a oldie but goodie Bromberg record if you can find it.

They're around here somewhere.

I have that on vinyl.

Now get off my lawn.
