One World: Together at Home Concert

I just jumped over and caught the replay of the Stones performance after Jorma's stream finished.

Thought they sounded and looked very good.  Charlie Watts on the homemade percussion kit was a nice touch.

Hope that's not the last we've seen of them.

don't you just want to peruse Watts' LP collection...

Mick has the same voice as when he started. Not that nasally shit some singers switch to in old age.

I would totally watch a podcast of Charlie talking about his record collection.

One World: Together at Home

nice try new world order

Would’ve been funny if they played Ventilator Blues

I saw about 30 seconds of (maybe?) Taylor Swift.  A purty blonde girl at a piano.

Quickly switched to a bunch o' John Prine vids.  Sort of a theme this week..

McCartney, solo on the Rhodes, version of Lady Madonna was worth the price of admission.

Eddie Vedder was bad, really bad. He tried to pull off Neil Young's droney pipe organ thing. Fail.

Only have watched the Stones so far.  The Monday morning quarterbacks seem to rate them high among their peer group's performances (McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Elton).  Keith Urban, Billy Joe Armstrong and Lizzo are getting rave reviews from the younger group of performers.

It's odd that U2, Sting and The Who weren't involved.

Did Charlie Watts have a magic couch that sounded like cymbals or was it a soundtrack?

I'm old.  That said IMH(O)O Keitth Urban performing Higher Love was wonderful.

Also wonderful was Jimmy Fallon & The Roots performing "Safety Dance"

Charlie was using new wireless technology, an app called Freedrum.  You can see his phone next to him in the video.  Going to be a gamechanger for air drummers.  Hilarious that Charlie was using it.

Dave, at what time approximately are the Stones on that video?

The Stones come on at the 7:00:15 mark.

Thanks Dave. Guess they figured it would be too much of a pain to mic a small drum kit?

Interesting.
