One Million Electric Cars on Road

Obama’s Prediction of a Million Electric Cars on Road By 2015 Off By 72%

(CNSNews.com) –  In his 2011 State of the Union address, President Obama predicted that the U.S. would have “a million electric vehicles on the road by 2015.”

The president backed up his prediction with $2.4 billion in federal grants to companies producing lithium-ion batteries for plug-in cars.

But reality hasn’t even come close.

Despite massive federal spending on electric vehicles, which is expected to total $7.9 billion through 2019, there are currently just 286,390 plug-in vehicles on the nation’s roads today, according to the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA).

That’s 72 percent lower than the million electric vehicles the president predicted four years ago. And with gasoline prices now averaging $2.06 per gallon, the lowest they’ve been since April 2009, that percentage is not likely to change any time soon.

( i will forever see you in that bozo costume if i can't scroll by your posts fast enough) have a nice day!

more cut and paste from gemstatepatriot.com, please.

Although this is "real," it's useless shit. Oh no, a former president mis-predicted electric cars. Call out the National Guard!

Let's look at some real shit that isn't useless:

Trump promised to repeal and replace ACA in his first 100 days, with something cheaper, with lower deductibles, that insured more and gave more choice of doctors. All they've come up with is a Plan that does the polar opposite.

See, that's a story and something to bite your teeth into. Electric cars? Who gives a fuck?

This guy needs help from Blair.

LOL

im sure he knows how to work a fryer and pour fountain soda

Electric car?

You belong in the fucking clown car.

The former vice president Gore resurfaces, with another round of familiar apocalyptic predictions.

At least one environmentalist is capitalizing on President Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris climate accord: Al Gore. The former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner is back in the public eye whether you like it or not. Since Trump’s announcement last month that the U.S. would pull out of the Paris climate pact, Gore has been on a media blitz to reprise his role as the prophet of planetary doom. The timing couldn’t be better for him. Next week, Gore’s new film, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, will debut. It’s the follow-up to An Inconvenient Truth, his 2006 documentary that won two Oscars and became the rallying cry for climate-change activists around the world.

Lamorinda has many electric cars. It has reduced the average high temperature by ten degrees.

Hotter planet means more pools...just sayin'

If only they could find a way to tie global warming to Benghazi...

Fuck it must be rough to be a Republican right now. Poor bastards.

"Exclusive: Controversial U.S. energy loan program has wiped out losses"

(Reuters) - The controversial government program that funded failed solar company Solyndra, and became a lighting rod in the 2012 presidential election, is officially in the black

The DOE's loan program was created in 2005 under the Bush Administration, but its program for renewable energy projects was funded in 2009 as part of the Obama Administration's economic stimulus, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The DOE also approved loans for next-generation vehicles that funded both the defunct Fisker as well as Tesla Motors Inc, which last year repaid its $465 million government loan 9 years early.

Of the $30.3 billion in loans and loan guarantees issued by the Loan Programs Office, $21.71 billion has been disbursed. At least one company has yet to draw down its DOE loan.

Volvo, Betting on Electric, Moves to Phase Out Conventional Engines

Volvo Cars on Wednesday became the first mainstream automaker to sound the death knell of the internal combustion engine, saying that all the models it introduces starting in 2019 will be either hybrids or powered solely by batteries.

The decision is the boldest commitment by any major car company to technologies that currently represent a small share of the total vehicle market but are increasingly viewed as essential to combating climate change and urban pollution.

Although no other traditional carmakers have declared their intention to bury the internal combustion engine, virtually all of them are investing in hybrid and battery technology.

Daimler, the maker of Mercedes-Benz cars and trucks, said on Wednesday that it would invest 5 billion renminbi, or $735 million, in a new battery factory it will build in Beijing with its Chinese partner, BAIC Motor.

The major American automakers are moving forward with their own electrification strategies, albeit on a much smaller scale than Tesla and now Volvo.

General Motors, for example, this year introduced the Chevrolet Bolt — a battery-powered model that sells for about $35,000 before government incentives are applied. The Bolt can travel 238 miles on a single charge and will be the basis for other electric models that G.M. expects to add to its lineup.

Ford has sold electric versions of a few mainstream models, but it has not yet developed an all-electric vehicle from the ground up. That is changing, however. The company has said it will introduce a battery-powered S.U.V. by 2020 and will add other electric models thereafter.

The GOP has spent the last 9 years developing their political strategy, which is to not have a platform. All they do is rag on Democrats and liberals. This thread alone proves that.

But hey, dumb and/or angry mofos all over the country buy into it and join in.

Between the 3-4 conservatives on this Board, none of you can give a coherent policy idea on anything, from healthcare to immigration. Although the GOP has a hold on Congress and the Executive, they are just plain impotent. It's easy to win elections with pitiful turnouts. It's much harder to govern a majority that really doesn't like you, doesn't care, or doesn't agree.

My tesla should be delivered by the end of the year Fully charged for free off my solar .Just like my house and guest cabin . Not a penny for electric since 1999

Volvo is now owned by the Chinese

^yep...

From the NY times article

Volvo will be able to draw on technology developed by its parent company, Geely. The companies can also save money by purchasing components such as batteries together.

Analysts said Volvo’s decision to pursue a lineup dedicated to electric and hybrid vehicles is motivated, in part, by the Chinese government’s efforts to reduce harmful emissions from internal combustion engines.

“Chinese ownership of Swedish-based Volvo likely played a role in the automaker’s announcement today,” said Michelle Krebs, an analyst with the auto-research site Autotrader.com. “China’s air pollution problems have prompted a more serious push toward cleaner automobiles.

Mr.  Doc Ellis --

A question for you.  Curious regarding the Voltage / Wattage and wiring tech of the Tesla vehicles.  Of course I could look it all up,  but imagine you have the practical answers.

So how do you take the current from your Solar Array and Inverter / Breaker Box and channel that into the special plug which charges Tesla at ??? Ampere-Hours at xxx Volts & Watts.  I'm not phrasing the question quite  right,  as an electrical Idiot.  But you get the general idea.

And  inversely,  there's a Tesla charging station not far from here.  People with those Cars plug in and charge up.  What  kind of current comes out of that station, and what are the plugs/terminals named which hook it all together between station and Tesla Vehicle ??

They don't appear to be the same form factor as any conventional appliance Plug I've ever seen.  But the Tesla Electrical Saloon seems like a mini-subsation in appearance;  not Frankenstein - style but sleek, modern, compact.

Wasted $$$$???

Talk to Junior, Dick and Scumbag Rumbag, who were so sure about Atom Bombs in the Middle East they just had to kill 100's of thousands of innocent people and put 4 Trillion dollars in their friends pockets.....
