Old? Smoke pot for young (mouse) brain

Forums:

Finally, some good news.....

Most recently, a coalition of researchers from Germany and Israel published a study in Nature Medicine that examined the different effects of tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive compound in weed that's also known as THC, on young and old mice....

"Thus," the researchers optimistically concluded, "chronic, low-dose treatment with THC or cannabis extracts could be a potential strategy to slow down or even to reverse cognitive decline in the elderly.”

The study revealed, for example, that THC-treated old mice create more transthyretin, a protein "that is thought to be protective against Alzheimer’s disease."

Interesting.

Thanks for posting

Those results are counter intuitive - seems like most tokers experience memory-recall issues when stoned...if the experience leaves the user with a more youthful and healthier brain, then that's great news.

I saw Mouse Brain open for Peter Tosh in '81. I think :toke:

OK - so far it gives you mouse brains and cow tits - what's next?

As long as it doesn't lead to Trump hands.

my buddies dad still rollin them fat at 70....

They tried this study in America but the mice that used MMJ got caught in a trap (Jail). Police also arrested the placebo control group when the officer mistook placebo for PCB.

You hear about the mouse study about the effects of wearing  boxers vs briefs?

It was the correct answer  on last week's 'Wait Wait Don't Tell Me' quiz- can't find a source for it though. APparently the researchers sewed little undies for the mice subjects.
