VIBES

((((RETROACTIVE VIBES))))

Well?

Probably out celebrating his new job. Or they put him to work right away.

Wow thanks for all the good vibes!  Went directly from my interview to a happy hour and had a nice stein of a dunkel beer, so now I'm in the mood to Zone and cook dinner.

Interview went well, I've been through tougher ones... but for some reason I'm also suspicious when an interview seems too easy and casual.

We're not in the hot tub together yet, but they seem like a good crew and that we'd all get along. :)

I'll hear from the team director (who I interviewed with 2 weeks ago) next week about whether I advance.

This would be a super cool mission-driven job because they are all about encouraging curiousity, scientific method, critical thinking, and STEM education... and they do exhibit design and installation for other nonprofits around the world.

I remember going there to visit the Tactile Dome back at the original location at the Palace of Fine Arts in the late 80s when I was in town for a NYE GD run --- and that experience stuck with me all these years.  Fun trivia: Francis Ford Coppola's brother August  (father of Nicholas Cage and Talia Shire) designed and installed the Tactile Dome!  What a trippy family.

They just hired a new executive director who starts in April --a heavy hitter from PBS and more recently as a chancellor at the school of arts at University of North Carolina-- so the organization is at a transition stage, but I see opportunity with that.

If I win, I would handle all the media relations and storytelling... and would work closely with the new director and help build partnerships with other arts and science nonprofits in SF.

Next week I have another 2nd round interview with the Marin County Water District, which seems like a big yawn in comparison.

My only worry is whether a nonprofit salary will allow me to survive in SF -- otherwise, I'm ready to start and stay there for awhile!
If only my mom's parents had kept their house on Cole St from the 1940s, LOL.

Best of luck, Llollo! I loved the Exploratorium when I lived in SF!

Mickey's wife was the head of parks and recreation here in Sonoma county for many years. They even had an official t-shirt with a STF (with rolling hills in the cranium instead of a lightning bolt). Incidentally, somewhat related to your post (eheh see what I did there?) Francis Ford Coppola is also hiring right now too at his winery up in Geyserville.

I hope you get it!

That would be HER new job Slick.

^^^^ LOL  I write like a dude, evidently.

Thanks for those interesting details, Dise!

It's because you don't put hearts over your lower-case I's.

Excusez-moi, s'il vous plait.  No offense meant, of course. Hard to decipher that from here. Still, good luck. Thanks for the correction, Mark. I'm informed now.

sounds pretty badass ~ best of luck and if it ain't this one it wasn't the one

been thinking of you lately btw !

hugs to you

Thanks sweet Jill, you've been in my thoughts, too!

You're right, "if it ain't this one, it wasn't the one"... had a different interview yesterday for a local govt job in Marin County... it would be a good plan B, just not as focused on science topics as I would like.

Let's talk by phone some weekend and catch up.

gimme a buzz any ol time

(((((Alternates)))))

Despite all of the awesome Zoner energy and support, I'm sorry to report that I received a reject letter from Exploratorium this morn.

I wrote back and offered to be a PR volunteer to help improve my science writing portfolio.

Onward.
No other applications in play right now, back to the hunt.

Sorry it work out, LLOLLO.

Onward, indeed.

Sorry LLOLLO, hope your hunt gets better

It sounds like you could use some shows, LLOLLO. Can you make it to next weekend?

Thanks everyone --

Mike -- yes, I'll be in Ukiah next weekend for DNB campout, can't wait to see everyone! DNB friends (and my birthday twin!) from Alaska will be there too.

Through the help of 2 Zoners, found free places to stay for the next 2 work weeks in the Bay Area to allow me to work my Portland job remotely and do the Portland > Bay area driving on the surrounding weekends!

I definitely need some shows. Portland has been mostly grey.... and I've been working long hours.
