Friday night dance at the Yachats Underground.  Had my roommates from 1981 (Paul and Amy) play for us, "The Easy Target",  I sat in to close the first set, did some dead tunes and an original, then played the 3rd set, like going into the past!

Thursday grilled a Prime Rib with apple chips, it was melt in your mouth, and deliciously smokey!  Fed 11 (baked tater bar, sweet taters, honey dill carrots, Caesar salad, garlic bread)

How long you grill that rib for ? Weight ?   Covered for how long ? And most importantly,  why tf were we not invited ?

Beautiful nite,  68 f'n degrees in ct right now,  jack-o-lantern still going strong. Jupiter sitting on top of the moon but my camera is horrible, hope you get a good viewing.

Not sure of exact meat times, bit of mahem going on and all...  it was a 6 pound roast, seared on direct coals, then roughly 15 minutes a pound on indirect heat as shown (well, the meat was turned another 90 degrees for the long haul).  Think I pulled it off the grill just under 130 degrees.  (and zoners were invited to the friday dance, but it was primarily a family thingy)

^ cool bro glad you had a super bday even if it was just with family. :) One'a these days we'll share some laughs together, God willing. That goes for all'a ya.

Unusual weather we're havin here.

My little buddy Scooter.

He passed away on Friday.

I'm pretty sad about it.

^I bet, Lance. Hang in there. I have a 14 yr old yellow Lab that is doing OK but he's definitely starting to show his age. I will be very busted up when he passes too.

(((((Lance & Scooter)))))))

Unconditional love is precious.

Dear sweet Tom, of course you're sad, and you will be. I think I remember that Scooter was your mom's dog. That might be a double whammy. I'm so sorry for your loss -there's the love you gave and the love you received.

Sending you love now.

Sorry to hijack the thread, I've just been thinking quite a bit about my little friend these past couple of days.

And yes, he was my mom's dog. I inherited him after she passed about six years ago, and I retired right when the pandemic hit, so it was pretty much him & me after that.

He was a good boy.

Dogs don't live nearly as long as they deserve to.

Anyway, back to the topic, here's a November photo that always hits home with me and makes me smile...

Hot stove time....

Very very sorry Lance. If Scooter was half the dog he looks like he was 10× better than any fuckin human out there.

My / our most sincere vibes to you,, hang in there brother, remember you still got us.

Taken at sunrise after camping out at Rabbit Valley Sunday night after attending Moab Folk Festival.  This was just over the Colorado border after leaving Utah.   It's a cool area, wish I had had more time to explore.  Living in a mountainous valley, it's always nice catching a sunrise or sunset over the horizon.

This is from Ophir, CO in 1902 ... it's really wild to think there were saloons in the Ophir valley, but apparently, there were quite a number of miners so it makes sense.    Aside from the handful of historic buildings that have survived in tact, there's not a whole lot of remnant debris where this likely stood ... just the occasional shard of glass or pottery that turn up when the voles dig their holes.

315962825_672187487590406_2209712825612622206_n.jpg

This one also just came through the FB feed I've been following ... must've been "main street" in Ophir in 1883.   It's interesting in that there's currently not a commercial zone in the present day Ophir LUC & for as long as I can remember people have always talked about trying to carve out a small commercial zone to allow for a small bar / convenience store.

Colorized photo of a {{{{{ Northbound train }}}}} .... approaching the summit of Dallas Divide (CO) on October 24, 1940.

I believe the land in the background and the right is very close to where Darryl Hannah either owns or had owned a house;  while the land at the photographer's back is owned by Ralph Lifshitz (aka "Lauren") - who has an insanely giant ranch ... of which this is the SW corner ... and the fence that runs parallel to the track is called the "million dollar fence".  I pray he turns it into some sort of conservation easement before he dies ... it's prime real estate that would totally upend things in a big way if built out.

That's cool about your bride's dad working there!  It's quite a large ranch.  I believe Babs didn't make to the wedding, there were stories about her ... but not sure about veracity.

Congrats Noodler!

^^^^ is that YOUR CATCH skyjunk???

What a beautiful creature! I love carp and carp fishing so much.  I wish Americans had 1/2 of the respect for these fish that the English do.

Jay, Not my fish, it's a record Gold Fish Carp. I grew up carp fishing in Ohio, why? Because they were the biggest fish to catch in my area, and I loved it. I used to make my own dough ball with all kinds of junk in it like , strawberry jello, they love that shit. i still love catching fish

That's awesome Sky. I did the same as you, except in Minnesota, mainly the Mississippi River by St. Anthony Main.

They are incredibly strong fighters. I just have great respect for this breed of fish.
